[OBSOLETE] D-Link Camera Manager (Connect) [Requires Classic App]

It is not there, all my other devices are there.

Have you tried deleting the camera within the SmartApp and recreating it? If you do this, watch the live log in IDE to see if you get any errors.

Motion and Nightvision should change their status based on the response from the camera. If they are stuck at the ā€˜toggle’ stage then take a look at the live log and let me know if you see any errors.

Presets need to be set up within the camera’s advanced settings before they can be used in SmartThings.

The streampath should work as you’ve said it worked in VLC, not sure what the issues is with that. Can you try downloading/installing the Generic Video Camera SmartApp in order to test some stream paths?

here is the error that I am getting in the log:

Looks like the Device Type Handler isn’t published properly. Can you confirm that the ā€˜DCS-960L’ Device Type Handler exists in your IDE and is published?

Ok, I removed it and put it back. It now shows up in the list of items. It just now says that it can not connect. I have tried to connect via direct URL that i have found in this thread. I can’t get the video to load in a browser but I can get a image to. I will keep looking through the thread. at one point I was able to watch video directly in a web browser.

thank you for your help

Good morning, i tried installing this last night but states ā€œcamera cannot be foundā€ on the ST app. I have four
932L two 5010L’s, and one 5020L . I know i have the right IP addresses,
PW etc, and can view on the Dlink app and computer but wondering how do
i put in 80 and it is forwarded on the Web interface. Downloaded the Camera
manager I’ve tried Port 80 for http and am not familiar with the RTSP
port of 554, granted such a novice to this, but really do appreciate the
help, Really neat program and i’m glad you took the time to write.

None of those cameras support rtsp so you can just use the HTTP port (80) for the video as well.

First, thank you for this wonderful SmartApp. I just used it to setup a DCS-2630L and it is working very well! I do have a few questions…

  1. Is it possible to use the camera’s motion sensor as a motion sensor for SmartThings, specifically Smart Home Monitor?
  2. What are the Motion, PIR, and Video buttons used for? The NV button is pretty obvious, but the others are not. Motion will not turn on at all, and PIR & Video do nothing (that I can tell).
  3. What is the % slider?
  4. For pictures/videos, how do you record videos and how do you delete pictures?

Sorry if these are answered elsewhere, I searched but could not find it. Thanks!

Unfortunately the camera cannot send events to SmartThings so we cannot currently use it as a Motion detector to trigger things within SmartThings. The Motion button turns on/off Motion detection in the camera, the PIR button turns on/off Passive Infrared motion detection in the camera and the ā€˜Video’ button will trigger the camera to record a video clip. All of these functions need to be set up on the camera’s advanced settings before they will actually do anything.

The % slider corresponds to your Motion/PIR sensitivity.

At this point you cannot directly delete the photos taken by the camera in SmartThings but they will eventually be automatically deleted from the cloud.

Thanks for the info. I saw some other threads where it was discussed the possibility of using the motion sensors in SmartThings, do you know if that is even possible? What is the difference between the camera and a regular motion sensor? Just curious, this stuff interests me.

Currently the camera is associated to SmartThings in a one directional relationship. It recieves a command from SmartThings and sends a response; either a confirmation or an image. In order to use the motion detection within SmartThings you would need the camera to ā€˜push’ it’s motion event to SmartThings which currently isn’t possible with this type of integration.

Hi. Sorry for the rather ā€œnoobā€ question:
I’ve installed the apps and sub apps. go through the app and specify my camera and its parameters.
I cant see the camera anywhere as a ā€œthingā€.
Back in the app i can see the camera is ā€œthereā€ as an existing camera.
[type is 5020L]

Have you ensured that you have all of the Device Type Handlers installed and published in your IDE?

Ah - as I’m in europe i synced them to my us account and only selected a couple of them including the one i was interested in as I was having to cut and paste them individually. I will assume this is a requirement and do them all… should this help?

PS i really appreciate you taking the time to reply

You only need the copy and publish the ones you’re looking to use. You should have 3 SmartApps (only 1 published) and 1 Device Type Handler (DCS-5020L) (published). If it still isn’t showing up in the ā€˜Things’ view; try creating it from scratch while watching your ā€˜Live Log’ in IDE and let me know if there are any errors.

Hmmm. OK I’ve now got them all published  I also have all three smart apps published. When i only had the ā€œmasterā€ clicking on the links to the other two in that app did nothing…
Ill try the app and come back to republishing if theres been no helpful change…

OK - so adding all the device handlers rather bizarrely has got me further. Ive now got stills. And no video. I remember seeing something in your ā€œarticleā€ about the video port not being 80 - I’m gonna try messing around some more and will get back to you if i can’t make it work. Thanks for the help
John

yeah, the DCS-5020L uses the HTTP port for video so it should be ā€˜80’ by default. You need to port forward in order to get the video outside of your local network, otherwise using your local IP for the ā€˜Video IP’ should get you a stream while on the same network.

Could you add the New DCS-6212L please, or advise if another camera settings would work? Would audio also work?

Thanks!
