[OBSOLETE] D-Link Camera Manager (Connect) [Requires Classic App]

I followed the instructions at the top of the post. I have "D-Link Camera Manager (Connect) in the SmartApps. I have added my camera settings and it shows up in the smart app.

How do I now get it to show up in “Things” so I can see the camera? I have tried added the app by clicking on “Connect New Device” and it just cant find it. I have also tried to look under “Safety & Security” but the camera does not show up as one to choose. I have the DCS-960L. Am I missing a step?

Thank you for your help.

If the camera can do notifications, what about using IFTTT to toggle a virtual/simulated motion sensor in ST?

Ok, I got it

See if I am correct, please

  1. I went to http://www.mycamip.com to find what is my external IP. I will input what I find on the Video IP. Is that correct?
  2. On the Camera IP, I will input the IP address that I use on the browser to see the cameras. Is that correct?
  3. I went to http://www.canyouseeme.org to verify if the port is open. I found out that 80 is not open.
I went do my router (nether nighthawk X6) and try to port forward the 80, but I couldn’t because something was using it. Then I went to the UPnP and realized that there is internal and external ports for each and everyone of my cameras (I have 10).
I believe I should use the internal port for the Camera IP address part and the external port for the Video IP address. Am I correct?
  4. I see on the cameras set up, that there is an option “Enable UPnP port forwarding” and a field to input a port number. Should I change those settings?
  5. Bellow that, there is a part that says HTTP. The port number over there is 80 (default, as you said). But it seems my port number 80 is not open. Should I change it?
  6. I don’t want to monopolize you, so it will be my last point: It seems to me that the UPnP may be messing around (it is only a guess). Do you think it is possible?

And just to answer your question: The Camera showed up in my “things” and I don’t think anything is working (video streaming, taking pics and etc.)

Thank you very much for your help

Paul,

On the first comment of Ben (at the very top) there is the instructions. One part is to enable the app (that is the best way I found out to explain to you) and another part that enable the camera to appear on the “things”, if I am not mistaken it is called “handler”. You might jumped the last step (I did that the first time I interact with github and smartthings).

Check out the instructions in the first post and pay close attention to where you open/setup the SmartApp within the SmartThings app. It can get pretty confusing so let me know if you still have issues.

@fabioec

1&2. You will use your Internal IP for the Camera IP and your External IP for the Video IP.
3. You will need to port forward your internal port 80 for your camera’s internal IP to an external port, you can change it to be whatever you would like if you have multiple cameras.
4. You can either use port forwarding through the camera or through your router, I would suggest doing it in the router itself.
5. The HTTP port listed is most likely the internal port, you should not have to change it. You will choose your external port while setting up port forwarding on your router.
6. I’m not sure what may be causing issues. If you’ve set up the camera properly everything should work fine. If everything except live video works then you may have issues with your port forwarding.

OK, but how can I find my External IP? As I said, I used http://www.mycamip.com, but I don’t know If it is the right way to do it.
I also have a 2330L that I can’t make it work as well. I am really lost here… =(

On the IP address should I use only numbers? Ex: 192.169.1.22
Or should I do as you mentioned to use o VLC? Ex: http://login:password@videoIP:videoPort/mjpeg.cgi?channel=1.mjpeg

On the router it says that port 80 is internal and 8080 is external for one of my cameras. Does it mean that I should use port 80 for Camera IP and 8080 for the Video IP?

I am sorry if it might seems to simple for you, but as I mentioned, I am newbie and very confused

That site should work but you could also just google ‘What’s my IP’ and it will tell you.

The IP address should just be 4 numbers separated by periods, like your example. 192.168.1.2 is a common internal IP. Use your External IP for Video and Internal IP for Camera.

Your camera port will be your internal port (80) and your video port will be your external/port forwarded port (8080).

I must be missing something. I have he app installed and I have add the IP address / ports and selected the camera model and the hub. clicked done and it said it successful updated the camera. Now what, how do I get it to show up in “my things”

If you’ve installed all of the necessary Device Type Handlers in your IDE then it should show up under the ‘Things’ tab in ‘My Home’.

when I go in to device handler they are all there and say published. there are 19 of them there. but it is not showing up in Things of My Home.

There’s no device with the same name as the one you set up in the SmartApp?

All my other items are there. just not the camera. Is it supposed to just add it once I set it up in the Camera Manager or do I need to add it as a thing?

Yeah, that IP address should just be 4 number separated by periods I know, what I am asking is that if you just use it on the app or should I use http://login:password@videoIP:videoPort/mjpeg.cgi?channel=1.mjpeg?

I am asking all those question to figure out what is going on…

Just fill in the individual values, the program will automatically plug them into the correct format for the stream/commands.

It should automatically add a ‘thing’ once you hit ‘done’ on the new device. Does the device you set up show up in the SmartApp under ‘existing cameras’?

Yes it I have it called “Living Room Camera” and it shows up in the Smart App where I have all the settings. that is the only location I can find it.

The only buttons i seem to be bale to use are pan/tilt and sometimes the home button works. I’ve tried with all 5-6 camera model options that are in the app for p/t cameras.

Thanks,

Bryan

Does it show up in IDE under ‘my devices’?

OK, there is a delay on those commands but if one works, they all work. You should be able to use the DCS-5020L to get it working.

I think we’re getting somewhere.

Results are the same under the following settings.

Camera IP = local IP
Camera Port = 80
Video IP = local or external IP
Video Port = 80 or 554

I can move the pan and tilt, I can take still photos and they work, i can home the camera. Presets don’t seem to take, volume doesn’t work(assuming that’s because I’m not connecting exactly right), and obviously still no motion video. The app says “Camera cannot be found. We are trying to connect.” Although, when taking a still, I can see what the camera sees just fine.

When toggling motion or nightvision at the bottom of the app, is there a change of state in the icon to show that the command took affect? If so, then those buttons aren’t working either. I’ll check the night vision again tonight once the sun goes down. Sort of a pain to get at the camera where it is mounted to block light.

Thanks,

Bryan
