Same here, all day it´s working routines
Thanks for the update guys, interesting that suddenly it works for all of you.
Today they stopped working again. I will continue to report these events as they can be helpful in detecting the root of the problem.
@cljara80 It stopped working for me in the morning. Did it happen to you just now or in the morning?
@Abhijeet_Ghosh, is correct, since morning
Today, my door sensor triggered Alexa routine. However, the announcement was delayed for few hours.
My wife opened the door this morning around 11am, and Alexa announced “front door opened” just now (~= 3:15pm).
7/17/20 - Mine worked early this morning, but were also delayed like @visamax . They have not worked at all this evening.
7/18/20 8:00AM EDT - This morning, random door and lock announcements are going off like crazy.
Just waking up, so no one has even touched a door yet. It seems like my system is playing catch-up from yesterday.
I sure wish this Alexa skill was a two way street where IOT devices that are connected through other Alexa Skills would be added to SmartThings since there are some device manufacture integrations that Alexa Skills can do that SmartThings does not do natively without using 3rd party services like IFTTT as a bridge. I would instead like to use Alexa Skills as the bridge to those other manufacture devices that SmartThings does not support natively.
Many people are already doing this using Alexa Routines as the intermediary and virtual devices to stand as proxy. The problem is that it’s only one way for third party devices other than sensors. You can use SmartThings as the trigger (“If”) in an Alexa routine and the third party device as the target (“that”). This works well for Third party plugs. The problem is that it’s only one way, so it doesn’t work well for wall switches since if someone turns on the switch There’s no way to tell SmartThings about it.
Third party sensors like Wyze work well as the trigger for an Alexa routine and you can turn on a virtual proxy if you want to see the sensor status in SmartThings as well.
So the main thing that is missing is a wider selection of trigger devices. That’s something Amazon would have to do, so make sure you send them feedback to let them know you’d like to see that.
Same here…it doesn’t work but getting a ton of announcements, then it just stopped at 12 00 pm
That is my main complaint with Alexa routines! Why can’t it have switches trigger routines! It would make my smart home automations so much easier!
Almost certainly the reason is that not all switches report a change in state to Amazon, and Amazon just doesn’t want to deal with the customer service headaches of trying to explain why some switches work and some don’t.
Hopefully they will at some point figure out a way to clearly label the ones that do and then use those. But there’s just no telling.
I have a similar issues – same hardware, behaves differently in the app and in one room, i manually switch from PLUG->Light but it doesn’t recognize or treat them as lights (kasa HS103)
super frustrating.
I deleted the entire house and rebuilt it all from scratch but didn’t fix that issue (resolved many others though)
Will we get humidity readings on alexa??? It says that is not supported when I ask it for humidity of a device.
It’s 10 pm (GMT -5), Alexa is announcing some routines that should have been executed in the afternoon.
However the “Test lock” that was created on my account for test is not working.
Same thing for me yesterday(and last few days), anybody found a way to fix this?
Hello,
I’ve been using smartthings for a number of years now and I’m just now adding Alexa to the mix.
I’m using the new Smartthings app, I downloaded the Smartthings Alexa skill, it found all my devices no problem.
I can control my smartthings devices (like smartthings lights) with alexa, and alexa can see when I do stuff with smartthings (like open a smartthigns door sensor)
So everything is working fine back and forth that way.
The issues is when I try and make routine, something super basic like, Smarttthings door sensor opens and turns on Alexa light.
If I push the “play” button on the routine, the alexa light turns on. So I know Alexa can tell a it’s own light to turn on.
If I open the door sensor I can see it open in Alexa devices, so I know that is working.
If I change the “when this happens” in the Alexa routine to say a specific time, the light turns on fine.
But that routine will not active when the Smartthings door sensor opens.
After much searching I came across this thread and I see there’s a number of issues with Alexa, but I’ve never used Smartthings and Alexa integration before I’m not sure if it’s related to what I’m doing or not.
Is Smartthings activating an Alexa routine broken?
(I’m not talking about a virtual switch, just a normal Samsung SmartThings door sensor turning on an Alexa light.)
If it’s broken I’ll end my search for an answer, but if it’s not I’ll continue trying to figure out what’s wrong.
Thanks,
Dear lord, finally. I have just NO IDEIA how I found this post, but I’m having issues with my amazon Alexa and the routines.
The routines are not triggered anymore and I have no clue why, sundly it has just stopped!!
I have a motion sensor that’s not working anymore as routine trigger!!!
How much logger is the Alexa intergation issue going to go on, before someone with smartthings actually address the issue and provides a time line for fixing it?
Who knows, but all I can say is thank goodness I never got rid of the original Alexa app/skill and did not upgrade when this was first announced. What a cluster…
