Has this thing been mentioned before? Went totally under the radar:
Matter over Thread Temp/Humidity sensor + buttons!
Take all my money (up to 39 bucks)!
And this comment shows what’s wrong with the architecture:

NO, NO, NO! That is the dumbest idea I’ve heard of recently. But yes, it points to the inflexibility of the architecture and the need to statically define all the capabilities and handlers for a composite device in specific containerized drivers. It would have been so much better if they had created a mechanism for there to be a primary driver that identifies the capabilities of the device and then load sub-drivers that provide the handlers for each of the discovered capabilities.
Wait until we see Matter speakers with built-in temperature sensors.
My favorite Matter edge driver is the thermostat driver. It has almost everything and there will be devices with switches and much more in the future.

Doesn’t say in the article whether it will support Matter 1.3 so that you get energy monitoring. As to whether they are the leader, Eve Energy has had their dual switched outlet out for over 6 months and has an integration with ST energy monitor even before Matter 1.3.
This means device makers won’t have to put their gadgets through a separate testing program for each platform to wear its “Works With” badge. If they get certified as a Matter Device by the CSA, they can show their results to the other ecosystems and get those badges, too, without doing any more testing. This makes it much easier for device makers and gets us one step closer to just one badge to rule them all. (Notably, Amazon has not announced participation for Works with Alexa.)
Very Big Deal.
and, no, I’m not back. It’s Tuesday, my techie aide is here today, and he’s skimming some things in the forum for me. Carry on.
