Long time Vera user, crossing over

I’ve been a Vera user for many years, had been using a Vera Plus most recently. For my new house, I wanted to install a Brilliant control panel, which only interfaces with SmartThings for most controls. So I purchased a 3rd Gen ST hub, and will be working on getting my devices set up on the new platform. I don’t suppose there is a rundown here for this type of migration, the fundamental differences, gotcha’s, workarounds, etc? I’m not looking for a way to migrate existing scenes and such directly, I know I’ll need to set it up from scratch, just want to get a clear picture of the change in “philosophy” in how this platform flows.

I have primarily Z-wave switches, Hue, Sonos, Ring, Schlage (Encode), Ecobee, Alexa, Chamberlain

Welcome! :sunglasses:

The fundamental difference is that smartthings is 90% a cloudbased platform. You’ll find it that affects a number of things, both for good and for bad.

Another difference to be aware of from the beginning is that there are no network mapping utilities and no back up capabilities. So, yeah, there’s that.

The following thread was created for people who are migrating over from the iris system, but it might be a good place to start. ( The topic title is a clickable link)
