If I’m reading it correctly, they will be removing the email notification feature and only provide the app notification. That’s not the same since the email provides a screenshot and the app notification does not.
So, if a manufacturer only supports 4 years, then that means they expect customers to purchase new equipment every four years then to keep services working even though the technology isn’t enhance that much.
I looked at using a NAS since the storage can be snapshot offsite, but they all have camera licensing fees.
Seems the camera security market is a m̶i̶n̶e̶ (strike that) a their field.
It’s worth mentioning that Direct Storage Access is very buggy, even with the latest firmware on a 5000 and on the local network. Do some web searches and you’ll find hundreds of complaints about this feature breaking (with the error message redirecting you to a sales pitch for the cloud service). It’s been broken for over a year with no fix. At this point, you probably want to look at a different brand if you’re hoping for local storage.
