My pleasure. They definitely do save a lot of money.
Zooz switch requires the Z-Wave gateway controller, which is like super expensive
3 way isnt that bad as long as you have all the wires you need
and @barrios35 itâs the downstairs switch box that is the issue it is what I believe they call a 14-3, which is 1 black, 1 red, 1 white, and of course a ground , I was told the white isnt a neutral on that, and it is not in my case either.
I was able to rig it using the ground as my neutral but it looks like that could cause issues so I undid it and im back to square one.
There is only ONE light bulb in the stairway, I am thinking about getting a google home compatible LED wifi smart bulb and calling it a day.
Ill use the leviton 3 way on another 3 way switch in the upstairs hallway, I confirmed this morning it does have neutral on both ends
I guess my concern is if a smart bulb (wifi) will even work with a 3 way switch?
The smartthings hub controls the Zooz switches. Do you have a smartthings hub? I assumed you did already. Sorry about that.
Thanks for the description. Crazy that it is not mark though as hot with black tape or something.
Yes, you will need neutrals for any non dummy switch. No way of running a neutral wire from a nearby outlet to the switch box?
Regardless, sorry it did not work out.
@barrios35 I am using Leviton, it doesnt require a hub at all
No, the downstairs has no tape or anything, just as described as pictured earlier in the post
Come to find out, smart bulb idea wont even work either, I have to leave the switch in the ON position for it to work with google home, if someone were to switch it to the OFF position, im screwed

Looks like this is the solution to my problem
WaitâŚyouâre not using the Leviton z-wave and connecting to ST??? This is the SMARTTHINGS forum!
Thatâs for Lutron not Levitron. Lutron requires a proprietary hub. The GE switches donât require neutrals either.
But I maintain, if your house was built in 1999 there should be a neutral in the box.
Yeah itâs $100 bucks for the Lutron setup for a switch and hub etc
Upon my google search I stumbled upon this forum
I do have the neutral, but it is all combined upstairs, the electrician never routed it down to the downstairs stair light switch apparently
Was that for the Zooz V1 switches?
The current, Zooz V2 switches work with SmartThings hub, a device handler is needed for some features. There are several reviews on Amazon that mention using Zooz switches and dimmers with SmartThings hubs.
YeahâŚa SmartThings hub. Thatâs kind of the whole purpose of this forum.
Regardless of the hub
It was an electrical issue of lacking a neutral wire
I used a lutron for it
Slight inconvenience but Iâm able to control it from 1 hub
Thanks
Zooz now has newer switches.

Here are links Zooz support sent me
How do they compare?

Just ordered 2 of each for about $120 for use in 3-ways. Doing four different 3-ways with Leviton switches would have cost over $400
