Is the V3 "Downgrade" from V2 Noticeable in Practice

I know that the V3 hub is a spec downgrade from the V2 due to reduced memory and performance, as discussed in this thread.

However, I’m curious what other users real-world experience has been. Is it slow to respond?

I have about 45 devices. I’d hate to limit performance. However, I urgently need to have a setup running and Smartthings has completely screwed up my V2 hub with the recent mess, I have little confidence that they will fix it given the nonsensical responses I’ve gotten from Support (“first we’ve heard about the issue”, “reinstall the app”). Plus, I’d like to have Matter support going forward, but have Z-wave devices so can’t use a V4. Thanks for any feedback!

Not at all. Make the switch!

Great to hear! I feel much better now. Just ordered one.

And a sincere thank you, jkp, for all the help with my (and so many other) questions here.

Keep an eye on the other threads about Z-wave and Zigbee devices being unavailable. Two users are now reporting z-wave is working again.

Given the low number of devices and the need for ZWave support the V3 should be fine. It will struggle if you start to load a larger number of devices. But overall performance is similar to the v2.

With the recent changes to the firmware and the upcoming changes to the drivers, the memory consumption should be cut in half. You shouldn’t have any issues anyway.

No. V3 with 220 devices here, reasonable response.
