Is it possible to have Amazon Echo play an audio file when a multisensor is triggered? or use the echo as a chime? Thanks!
The audio file is tricky if you want something custom. But it’s easy to have it play a chime or any of the other built in Echo sound effects just by using Alexa routines (not SmartThings routines).
Open the Alexa app.
Go to Routines.
Tap the + at the top right to add a new routine and name it.
Then You just choose “smart home” as the “when this happens”
And then pick from the list of sensors.
After that, pick SOUNDS as the “action” and then pick from their library.
Chimes are under “bells and buzzers”.
Then you get to pick which of your echo devices should play the chime.
Save the routine and you’re all set.
You can also have Alexa speak sentences. For example, when our front gate sensor opens, she says “Front Gate is open”
