I was wondering if anyone on here had a diagram to assist me with installing a Aeotec Micro Switch 2 to a 4 way light switch?
I don’t have a diagram (I suggest checking with Aeotech support.) but by any chance do you mean “4 gang“ rather than “4 way“?
In US terminology A four-way set up would have three wall switches controlling a single light fixture. In UK/EU terminology, a four-way set up, would have four wall switches controlling a single light fixture. (Rare, but possible.)
For example, you might have one switch at the top of the stairs and a different switch at the bottom of the stairs, which each control the same light fixture.
This is an x-way setup:
A 4 gang setup has four switches in the same switch box. Each switch controls a different device.
I’m asking because the wiring for these two situations is quite different. ![]()
And here’s the link to Aeotec support.
I have 3 light switches that control 5 overhead lights.
Exactly what controls what?
Switch a
Switch B
Switch C
Light 1
Light 2
Light 3
Light 4
Light 5
———
And are all three switches in the same switch box (in which case that’s a three gang switch)?
Or are they in three separate locations?
All three switches are in different locations and control 5 lights in a hallway together as one light. I believe this is how they have it wired up.
That is indeed a four-way. I’m not sure if you can do that with the Aeotec model or not, again I would check with their support. ![]()
