Hue lights experience for Osram Lightify bulbs? (Sync to music)

This is a great use of the hue lights. Unfortunately I have osram lightify lights. Is there anyway to do this with the osram line of lights?

What’s the easiest and most reliable way to get this for a tv?

There’s an app that will video the tv screen for Hue Sync to match to, but that’s… a bit absurd.

I have Comcast.

This is one of those tricky situations where it depends what region you live in.

Osram/lightify bulbs Sold in Europe use the ZLL profile. Those can be connected to a hue bridge.

Osram/Lightify/Sylvania bulbs sold in the US use the ZHA profile. Those cannot be connected to a hue bridge. It’s just a manufacturing decision that the company made.

FAQ: Zigbee Application Profiles, or why not all zigbee devices work with SmartThings

In either region, the bulbs can be connected directly to the smartthings hub for that region.

So whenever you find an article on the Internet, you have to figure out which region they are talking about, as it is quite likely the author is unaware of the regional differences.

Three giveaways that you are looking at a European blog will be prices given in euros, discussion of VAT, and referencing the devices as “lamps” rather than the US term of “bulbs.” (Both regions use the term “smart bulb”, leading to sentences in European blogs like “a ‘smart bulb’ is a lamp with a radio inside.”)

In this case, that’s a European blog, so will only apply to those buying their devices in Europe/UK.
