I put together a simple tutorial on how to monitor energy costs in real-time using SmartThings and Initial State. It is pretty interesting to see how much it really costs to charge iPhones/iPads, watch TV, charge a Tesla, etc. This is an area where SmartThings compatible devices really shine. I wish there were more options for ST circuit breaker box monitors and more appliances that had ST power monitoring built-in (like fridges, dryers, HVAC).
