Homebridge after groovy

I am facing the same problem, and someone suggested on a reddit thread to switch homebridge to use ciao instead of bonjour as mDNS Advertiser, and so far it appears to be working for me. :crossed_fingers:t3:

YMMV.

I’ve been using Homebridge for about 18 months and my Raspberry Pi died. Before I replace it, I want to make sure I can still integrate HomeBridge now that the SmartApps section has been removed. I don’t recall how/where I configured it from within the SmartThings app when I initially set it up. Can anyone confirm for me that Homebridge can still be integrated with SmartThings and whether that’s done solely from within the Homebridge app in Linux? Many thanks in advance for any guidance you may offer!

Looks like there is Homebridge plug-in that allows for integration with ST. GitHub - iklein99/homebridge-smartthings: This is a plugin to Homebridge to connect your Smartthings network into Apple Home Kit.

You’ll need to create a PAT for the plug-in to use to access the ST API’s. Go to Samsung account to do that.

Check out the info near the end of the README.md in the repo for instructions on setting up the plug-in.

There is already a detailed existing topic on exactly this. I am going to move your post to that topic.

Please go up to the top of this thread and start there and you’ll see what people are doing now.

This was very helpful, thank you. I did a search but context was different; this does get me in front of the right users, I believe.

Thanks, Bruce. This is the plugin I had installed – and it’s fantastic – but since I can’t access the Raspberry Pi, I can’t see my configuration file or anything. The README file looked like just a changelog but when I read the section at the bottom, I think you’re right and it should go through their server once I configure the Homebridge API with the ST token. It’s been 18 months since I did this but I spent enough time messing with it (setting up Raspberry Pi, installing HB, configuration) that my precise memory of the steps was a little fuzzy. Didn’t want to shell out $135 for a new Raspberry Pi if I couldn’t configure a new one. Thanks for the response!

Wooo! $135? Are you buying all accessories with it? Do not buy this from Amazon.

you can choose whatever amount of RAM you wish. you can get by with 2 for HB

get portainer free edition. set up HB with it… you can make backups for portainer and with HB to easily restore when your PI goes to the grave.

Yes, that’s exactly what I was doing. Thanks for posting this. It also dawns on me now that since I have the kit with all the accessories, I don’t actually need them all over again and can probably just use the computer you posted with them. I’m trying to set up Homebridge on Linux now to confirm I can get it up and running. If I can, then I’ll buy that Raspberry Pi 5 you posted and I’m off to the races.

I’m really, really regretting not having a backup of my config file right now. :frowning:
