Hoping you can answer this; a couple of things that’s all. Both are annoying, one of which just doesn’t make sense to me.
1st - why is it so dam long winded to simply see what mode ST is currently in.
I often just want to check if the system is in night mode or not.
Although I should be on the front screen of the classic app, it’s still just one click to find out.
I’m not looking for any answer that doesn’t answer “why not”
Eg why can’t it be where I’ve circled the screen shot.
2nd - why is there so much wasted real estate on the front screen.
What’s the real one if the text towards to top of the set in data that follows is giving you that info anyway.
I don’t use the security side of it, but use the water leakage and smoke side of things, but I don’t want this at the top so I tend to have it at the bottom. But then there seems to be even more wastes real estate on the front page.
Why?
I don’t mean to sound rude but I honestly find it genuinely hard to believe neither of these 2 have not been brought up many times, and if that’s the case then clearly the users are not being listened to and let’s face it, it wouldn’t be the first time nor the last.
Is there anyway to synchronize the settings in the main app page between multiple devices? If you select “Edit” you can reorder rooms and select (favorite?) what devices are going to be shown… and then reorder how they are shown.
I have multiple phones all running the new app; now that I can use the new App, I set up and organized all my rooms and devices. But when I open the new app on my other phone or my wife’s phone, everything is back to the random order showing all the devices. Can I export that setup from one phone to import to another, or can it just be shared behind the scenes for me?
I really don’t want to do all that work again, manually, for each device.
E.g.: the left is organized, the right is my other phone:
I would love that option, but that doesn’t exist , and sometimes it breaks. I had to manually configure my wife’s phone, then my daughter’s, and then finally my tablet. The tablet works in landscape mode, which allowed for tiles to be 4 wide vs 2, so I didn’t mind having a different look on that.
Blake- like many SmartThings users, there are a couple of features that are CRITICAL for STHM to have. One is support for SharpTools and the other is the ability for a Smart Lock PIN to change the STHM mode (i.e., Alarm Off when PIN is entered to unlock and Alarm Away when Smart Lock is locked from the PIN pad).
So, if I’m reading this correctly. my lan connected Logitech Media Server will stay in groovy? And VID is still meaningless at this point. I have to players using the same DH and they show different things in the new app. So, still nowhere yet.
And, why do I have a guy swimming in a blue bubble in the new app on my device pages?
We weren’t kidding about listening to the community re: key features…just takes a few development cycles sometimes Thanks for everyone’s patience on this and other feedback.
Can you make all devices appear in the automations app and allow users to select them even if they’re offline?
I haven’t tested this recently, but in the past I noticed that when you open the mobile app the devices start syncing/refreshing and if you immediately try to create an automation instead of waiting for it to finish then it doesn’t show all of your devices and sometimes it shows them as offline so you can’t select them.
Going back to the device list and waiting for everything to finish solves the problem, but it’s a pain.
You still can’t select disabled devices in the new iOS app, but if they’ve fixed it for Android then they’ll probably fix it in the next iOS app so thank you for posting that.
It looks like they also fixed the missing device issue in the Android app, by keeping the trigger/action device option disabled until all the devices have finished loading…
@blake.arnold, I have came across this awkward thing when an empty room showed up on my main screen. It is empty because I removed the device which was previously there and replaced with another one, which I haven’t added to the room yet. Oh great, I though, I will assign it to the room now. So I selected the room and clicked on the + icon in the middle.
None of them gives any option to add a device which hasn’t been assigned to any room yet. Maybe it is my bad, because I might have used the Classic app to add the device, but why isn’t a category at least for the Bring device… option, that devices without a room assigned yet.
You can’t do that in the new app. But you can do it in the Classic app. The new app doesn’t expect this, however. What you need to do is go to hamburger menu → Devices and search for devices that are “No Room Assigned”. From there you can put them in a room.
Or on the Home screen, scroll to the bottom and all devices with no room assigned will show there. Select them then use the menu to edit and assign a room.
However I am talking about a device already being in a room and wanting it not to be in a room.
I was commenting that just as ‘Bring devices from other rooms’ doesn’t include the devices that are not yet assigned to a room, when you go to move a device to another room you aren’t offered the possibility of no longer having the device in a room. In both cases the possibility of having a device not assigned to a room isn’t considered. So there was a similarity.
