GE, Networx, Interlogix Caddx NX8 security System Integration?

Hi Lee:

Also interested in one of your kits. I have a Networx NX8 Panel and therefore would need an NX584 Add-on…also use Zone Doubling.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad, replying via PM

Finally finished my installation of the Alarm System Bridge.

Here’s the quick demo how it work with my system:

Thanks to LeeFL for the amazing kit.

Hi all,

I’ve updated the installation instructions, for any new users.
(This is really just finally updating to cover the newer web interface, and correct a couple of outdated descriptions)
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/osrdwf3Tp85PAYkoNYqBJKenZI4QXIK3mZ2vNVxeVMf

I’m also releasing the latest firmware version (0.02.10).
Depending on what version you’re using currently there may not be substantial changes, but recent changes include

  • Improvements to arm/disarm functionality
  • Support for some older alarm panels with a specific bug where the zone configuration data is garbled
  • Better debug logging
  • Work-in-progress support for zone bypass and panic modes (not available via web interface yet)
  • Additional alarm system info on about page
  • Reduced memory usage in prep for some future functionality

The new firmware version can be downloaded here: -

Hey guys
Im so excited! I got the kit in the mail. Just a quick issue, on the middle board, I note that pin 13 is bent in such a way that it does not enter the board under it. I am trying to figure out if this is by design or an error?

Can anyone help ASAP? Wanted to get this going tonight!

Apologies Abe, it definitely shouldn’t be like that, and was something I’d missed. However I’ll double check, but from memory I don’t think that pin is used. (it passed testing)
Could you PM me a photo?
If there’s any issue then we’ll work out how to get it sorted (whether that be instructions to fix, or sending a replacement etc)

Update: Confirmed with Abe that there’s no problem with the hardware. A pin was bent, but it’s not one that’s actually used and it won’t cause any issues. Hardware is working fine.

Hey Lee,
I am interested in your alarm bridge. Please PM me. NX-8E/RS232->USCEW10 (Wireless) using virtual com port currently communicating with DL900 software. Thanks!

PM sent

Hi Lee

can you please double check the link for the documentation ? looks like is not longer working at least for me

the .bin is fine

Dunno what happened there, try this link

tks it worked

My bridge has been running great for two years. Great work, LeeFL.
I figure I should update the firmware and device handler. Two questions:

  1. The link to the firmware seems ok, but the link to the device handler .zip seems broken. Can you check?
  2. Likely a dumb question, and I can probably figure this out, but I’ll ask anyway: How should I wifi into an operating bridge? Just set my laptop to the same subnet as the bridge and google to the bridge address? Or restart the bridge so it broadcasts?
  3. Bonus question: will the new device handler work with the new ST app?

Update: Q2 was dumb. Same subnet. Google in.

Hey Schooner.
You can just connect a browser to the IP address used by SmartThings for your device (or find the IP address from your router). The web interface has a page for updating the firmware. (you can just go to ipaddress/update in browser, so long as the computer is on the same network). You shouldn’t need to restart it manually.

The latest ‘published’ device handler should be here: -
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/rz2mqTu3uuRuNSaQzDL73bcftB7ZW36dohRYTNgvURo
(I’ll make sure to update the link in the doc)

Unfortunately the functionality of the new SmartThings app is incomplete at best. Samsung have still not delivered half of the functionality that they promised. Much of the developer documentation has “coming soon” in many places :frowning:
Since smart-tiles are not supported by the new app, there’s no way currently to get much of the existing functionality without running a SmartApp on the device itself (which makes compatibility with other systems like Hubitat or HomeAssistant problematic). I am looking at this as a potential option. (if the existing device can support the memory requirements etc).
For now you can access the child devices through the new app, and even integrate with Smart Home Monitor by linking the states between SHM and the SmartThings device using a few simple automations, but you just can’t see the zone status under the main device page, or do the initial configuration.
Personally I’m not a fan of the new app anyway, but know eventually they’ll drop support (hopefully not before they’ve actually finished getting feature and functionality parity with the “old” app :stuck_out_tongue: )

@leefl I’ve got an NX8V2 with NX216E. I’m trying to drop my home phone and make this alarm smart. I have Alexa’s throughout the house. Can you suggest what I need to make this work?

Also, what happens to my current keypads? Will they stop working?

Hey Chuck,
With my system you’d need an NX-584e comms module to connect to the NX-8v2 (since only the NX-8E panel has the comms on-board). Unfortunately the NX-584e modules are becoming scarce though there are a few suppliers out there that still have stock. (and a few folks have replaced their NX6 or NX8v2 with an NX-8E and then sold their original main board rather than buying an NX-584e, and probably saved money that way)

My system then provides a browser interface, and interfaces with SmartThings to allow you to both arm and monitor the alarm remotely, and also to use the various zone sensors to trigger automation of other things in the house via SmartThings.
(My system is $95 all-in)

With my system the keypads still continue functioning as they do now.

P.S. I am also investigating development of a complete replacement for the alarm panel (which would keep the browser/SmartThings functionality from my system, and not need a specific existing panel, but allow use of the existing sensors etc, but it would drop the phone monitoring support etc, and may likely require replacement of the keypads too), but that’s in very early stages, and with my current workload that’s likely at least a year out at best.

Thanks for the response @LeeFL. Can you point me in the direction of the NX-6E or a NX-584E? I’m assuming that I would change the whole board out if using the NX-6E? Would I keep the expansion board? I’d like to move forward if you can help me round up the parts. Also, are you looking for a beta tester for your new product?

Yes, for switching to an NX-8E you’d change the main board, but keep the expansion board.
The NX-584e is an add-on for your existing NX-6v2.
My previous supplier of the NX-584e has been unable to get more stock recently, but I’ll see what I can find (though I wouldn’t have any experience or direct recommendation for any suppliers I find). I’d also suggest searching for those two boards yourself, to double the efforts

Is the NX-6E and the NX-8E the same?

I found this one… would this work?

“ Interlogix NX-8E-BO-FG NX-8E Board Only”
