Fridge / Freezer Temp Probe

I am trying to locate a temp probe that can be kept inside a fridge and chest freezer while keeping the batteries/power outside of the appliances. This in-turn would also keep the signal outside the appliances also. I’ve come across a few posts here and there although nothing definitive on if there is a temp probe that is compatible with smartthings hub (zwave or zigbee).

I’ve found devices simular to this MHCOZY although it also contains a switch and it is not clear if it will allow me to see the temp’s and setup alarms within smartthings.

Another post on here mentions the Konnected temp probe. The probe itself is a great price (IMO) although the alarm board, which I think is required, is $99. For me, that is a steep buy in for just wanting to monitor two appliances.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Additional notes:
I’d prefer battery powered if the device could remain outside the appliances.
I’d prefer the signal of the device be outside the appliance for reliability purposes.
Integration into smartthings would be nice for consistency.

I use cheap Tuya ZigBee temperature and humidity sensors with 2-AAA batteries in 2 of my freezers.

I don’t have any problems communicating with my ST hub, and the batteries last well over a year. I believe the long battery life is due to constant conditions so there is not a lot of reporting to do.

Devices that work with DS18B20 Probe sensors that have working Edge Drivers (2023)

We have had multiple requests in the forum lately from people. looking for devices that work with the new architecture and can accept input from DS18B20 probe sensors. So I’ve started this topic. If any developers have additional ones, please post. Also: a typical DS18B20 probe will cost two or three dollars, usually sold in a pack of four or five. (That’s just for the probe sensor, not for the radio device you have to connect it to). those work fine for most HVAC or gardening applications. Temperature Sensor with External Probe

Has anyone found a reliable temperature sensor that uses a external probe? I tried some Tuya Zigbee ones but they are not recognized properly, they come up as switches (this particular model also has a relay built in) . I am trying to find something with an external sensor that I can clamp around copper pipes. I have hot water baseboard for heat, and would love to keep an eye on the temperature at each baseboard. I’d also like to put several on the boiler piping as well to keep track of things.

I have no issues with the older Samsung Smartthings multi-sensors placed in my fridge door racks which also monitor opening and closing via the x-y-z movements.
