I had a power cut and for some strange reason my BT hub and halo coverage changed. I lost connection to a few devices on my SmartThings network.
I’ve moved a few things around and added an additional halo but I think I’ve made things worse and I may know why but wanted to check before I move things again.
My furthest points for Z wave devices are the garage. I have a FGS-222 and FGR-222 in there.
The SmartThings hub was in the loft (I live in a bungalow) but I’ve moved it closer to the main wifi hub. I’ve added an additional halo closer to the garage because I thought the z wave network would connect to the wifi but I now realise this is probably my mistake. I do have a couple of spare a wave devices. I assume that the halo is irrelevant to the a wave mesh and I should have put a a wave device between the ST hub and the garage.
Can someone confirm I’m an idiot before I move stuff around again.
Not sure what a “halo” is, guessing it’s a WiFi mesh device from context.
Z-wave is a separate network and can only be extended by adding Z-wave devices. For the most part only mains-powered Z-wave devices will work as repeaters.
There is such a thing as a dedicated repeater device, Aeotec makes one, but most people find they’re ineffective.
