Electric Baseboard thermostat control via ST

Hi,
My name is Laurence, Communication Marketing Advisor for Sinopé Technologies. The Wireless communication thermostat for electric heating can be programmed 7 days independently, 6 periods per day. Each period setpoint are completely independent from each other, so they can all be different.
Feel free to contact us anytime by phone (1-450-741-7700) or by email (info@sinopetech.com).
Thank you

Ecobee also has some thermostats that work with electric baseboard heat. https://www.ecobee.com/

I purchased a Caleo thermostat from CasaConnect but I don’t know when I will receive it! I sent a few requests by e-mail but I didn’t get any feedback from them, Also, I’m trying to get some information regarding their warranty policy but again, no feedback. Should I be worried?

Regarding Sinopé, they are making the Neviweb platform. I found a floor heating thermostat working on the Neviweb platform : Flextherm INSTINCT Connect thermostat.

Neviweb is not yet compatible with smartthings. Check Neviweb demo : http://demo.neviweb.com/index.html

Laurence, maybe you can tell us a little about flextherm. Is this part of sinope? I have the sinope starter kit and still waiting to have local control and floor heating thermostat from you guys. Pretty happy with the system so far. Just don’t want more paper weight if you guys go out of business and shut down the cloud service. These are the reasons otherwise I would order more for the rest of the house.

Hello,

Flextherm is not part of Sinopé Technologies. However, they have a floor heating thermostat (FLP45) that is compatible with our neviweb plateform. We understand your concern about our company but since its foundation (2010), Sinopé has manufactured and sold over a million of electronic thermostats for electric heating. We are a Canadian company that has at heart to make quality products that are durable and efficient for consumers. Also, we are currently working on a project that will offer the possibility for consumer to be able to access their thermostats locally without going on the neviweb Website. If you require more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Hum, no offense to these vendors, but we don’t need yet another proprietary radio system. We have enough trouble getting Z-Wave and Zigbee going. As soon as I see proprietary systems, I look at someone else.

Most homes up here in the Pacific NW (GoHawks!) have baseboard heating. New and old. I do have some good news. I had an email conversation with HeatIt and convinced them to get UL approved to sell in the US. The heatit system runs on 230VAC @ 50/60Hz, 16A maxing out at 3600W. A lot of the baseboards heaters run at 240VAC @ 60Hz 1000-3000W. HeatIt still has some legal paperwork to complete before systems hits the mark from what they told me. I’ll keep posting the HeatIt emails as they come in.

Another thing is the new Aeotec Heavy Duty Smart Switch. I haven’t gotten the specs from Aeotec yet but its suppose to support loads up to 240VAC, 30A, 9600W and 5HP motors. It’s currently on sell at Amazon even though Aeotec’s website still says coming soon. I’m going to pick this up and test it out using a virtual thermostat. You’ll need to search the community for the device drivers for this switch.

Any luck with Caleo? Hope you got the thermostat by now.

Hello Laurence, whenever your APIs are ready, I could work with you to expose your thermostats to Smartthings the same way I did for the ecobee thermostats.

See my github:

And this thread:

Moreover, I can speak French and I’m not far from your labs if needed

@Navat604, FYI, I have the Caleo since January at home, it works well now after some Internet connection issues at the beginning… They issued a patch to correct the issue few days after.

However, I must say that I’ve approached them several times for their APIs and they are quite slow to respond… Their support is not at par with ecobee for example as they are a young company (I suppose)…

I saw your awesome work on the ecobee and Neurio. I am planning to get Neurio pretty soon as well. Maybe wait till they update some of the bugs?
Really hope sinope will give out the api. I have 4 in floor thermostats and around 11 baseboard thermostats. So far sinope fits the bill and hardwares.
This idea of an app per brand is killing me.

@Navat604, the Neurio device is working fine so far. The only thing is the appliance detection that is not really working in large homes.

As far as Sinope is concerned, I’d need to have a demo thermostat or I hope that they will lend me a thermostat so that I don’t need to buy yet another one. I have Caleo and Ecobee (and they are quite expensive)… I don’t want to buy yet another hub and thermostat to work on their APIs.

We’ll see…

The appliance detection is the biggest selling point for me with Neurio actually. A have an aeon clamp meter already and like you I have a pretty decent size house so it could be a problem for now.
Hope sinope can send you one. They will get nothing but benefits with the integration. There are so many Vera users have sinope thermostats at their vacation home. Not to mention they sell them at Rona!

Dear Mr. Racine,

My name is Valerie from Sinope Technologies. Thank you for your enthusiasm about our product. Please contact us at info@sinopetech.com, leaving us your email address, to discuss your request.

Have a good day

I can’t wait for Q3 to see if the ST integration will work.

I have over 8 baseboard thermostats in my house and REALLY want ST integration!

I also live a short drive from Sinope so I’m willing for my house be a test mule.

Nice to see Valerie. Any word on an API or integration with SmartThings?

Hi,

We are currently working on an API that will allow interaction with other platforms. We expect to have the API by the end of the year. We also have many more products coming soon. If you would like to be notified when the API or future products will be available, please send us an email at info@sinopetech.com to be added to our distribution list.

Was about to get 3 infloor heat thermostats from flextherm. Guess I can wait another couple of months.
