(EDGE Driver-Mc): Z-Wave Sensor and Child Thermostat Mc

Hi,

Could you post a screenshot of this list that appears now?

Did you try choosing another thermostat mode? Auto for example.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply.

2 screenshots from the GUI, to show the thermostat device when newly created. Connection problem statement overlaying and parameters not set.

Followed by 4 screenshots of the thermostat state.
As I am new user I need to split the screenshots in multiple replies. Apologies, see no other way.

I did try other modes. Neither of them seem to do anything.
Also tried to change parameter settings. No result.

I can only put in 3 consecutive replies as a new userπŸ˜’. I have 3 more screenshots with another 30 possibilities to select from. I can post those when you reply, as that will enable me to post more.

@Simonett
can you delete thermostat and create anew one?

Interestingly, the original thermostat device ( which I did not dare to remove ) has 9 entries
Off
Automatic
Eco
Sleep
Heat
Cool
Rush hour
Away
Manual.

Note, the entries on my side are In Dutch.

Update: deleted thermostat and created new one in following way.
Removed old thermostat, changed to standard driver, closed app, deleted cache of app, started app, installed the driver, created virtual thermostat device

No effect. Problem persists.

try with this driver version

If does not works then i will need you send logs with CLI to analyze what happens

Dear @Mariano_Colmenarejo,

Mariano thank you for the amazing developments…

I’ve been using Child Thermostat driver with three separate aΓ«rQ Sensors for each zone of my home for the heating. The Fan state turns is mirrored by a routine that turns the zone on/off.

About a week ago they started to stop working properly. The thermostats still report the temperature changes but Fan current state is always Off and doesn’t change when Fan Mode is Auto irrelevant of the temperature. It will turn on if I turn the Fan mode to On.
Thermostat Next State Change Information always states:
β€œNo Expected Change in Thermostat State” even when the Set temperature is far higher than the actual temperature.

I’ve tried switching to the Test driver but it didn’t help. I’ve tried deleting one of Thermostat virtual drivers and reinstalling but that also didn’t help.

I’m sure I’m missing something obvious! Any help gratefully received.

Hi @Robert_McLaren
I posted a similar problem.

Suggestion was to try new version, which I aim to do this afternoon.

@Simonett @Robert_McLaren

Last driver version It should already be updated on your hub.

What version of firmware does your Hub have?
This week firmware version 52.09 was released and I also modified the driver, I don’t know which of the two could be the cause.

If it doesn’t work, I would need to publish logs with the CLi to be able to analyze what is happening

@Mariano_Colmenarejo
I tested the device driver with Version 2024-03-11 Created new thermostat device. Same problems persist. No communication, long list of states.

My hub firmware version is the following: 000.052.00011
V2 hub

I also have a virtual hub, with ’ Mariano shared beta driver’ , which confuses me.:smiley:

The Temperature sensor I deleted and reinstalled has the latest Edge driver (hasn’t helped. The hub has the penultimate firmware version - I can’t see a way to push the update? Any advice gratefully received.

@Simonett @Robert_McLaren

Sorry, I was wrong in the answer,

Thanks for the logs, I can see the error.

Install this new driver version with CLI executing this command

smartthings edge:drivers:install

After new driver installed in your hub you can create a new child thermostat and will work fine

 Name Z-Wave Sensor and Child Thermostat Mc
 Version      2024-03-13T18:54:18.022106868
────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Please you can delete the post with logs to see the thread clear, Tanks

@Mariano_Colmenarejo , you are officially the best! :smile:
Thank you so much. Works again!

@Robert_McLaren , hope this also fixes your issue.

Regards, Arjan

@Simonett

I messed it up by adding a device that can have up to 4 temperature probes, 4 thermostats, 5 endpoints and the modification produced an error on devices that only have one endpoint.
I didn’t see it because I don’t have any device that uses this driver and I depend on user feedback.

If you do not need my driver updates, you can unenroll your hub to my channel and my driver updates will not affect you.

If at any time you need a driver from my channel, enroll your hub again.

The ideal would be to be able to disable automatic driver updates, but it doesn’t seem like smartthings wants to do that at the moment.

Dear @Mariano_Colmenarejo, you make a good point about the automated driver update. I wanted to ask whether it was possible to pause updates or revert to older versions. Pitty that this is not supported.

Although I like your suggestion to unenroll, this also has it’s drawbacks. As your driver manages many devices, I probably need it again in future for a new device, but then all devices will get an update to latest version.

Please note that I do not look at the error introduced as β€˜messing up’. You did a great job by delivering new functionality to other users, and made a small mistake that was corrected very fast.
People like you are the backbone of this type of communities and should be much appraised.

Hello,
I’m new on the forum.
I had the same problem since begin of March that the operating state of the thermostat remained non active and didn’t work. From today we can use the thermostat again. Thank you for that.
Another problem occured also. The neo coolcam motion sensors with temperature are using the same driver. Before I could read the temperature sensors, but after the new driver sometimes they give all 0 Β° C and some days they give the right temperature. It happens that some are good and others not. I didn’t find a pattern in it. Now there is only one working. I think yesterday they worked almost all of them. It is not do important but just to inform you.

Johan
