Ecobee Suite Smart Mode updated 21 November 2019 at 7:50am EST

  • Ecobee Suite Smart Mode, version 1.7.22
    • Fixed a typo that was preventing mode changes when the internal temperatures exceeded their setpoints

Hi Barry. Love the app and all the customization. I have a basic need but want to confirm the best way to go about it. I have three modes in ecobee: home, away and sleep. Sleep starts at 10:30.

I’ve set the phone presence to acknowledge I left and then switch to away. Home when I come back. But if I come home after 10:30 (after being in away mode) I would like the ecobee to go into sleep mode. I have the helper app set to “resume program”. Is that the correct way to do this?

Precisely…

Hi,

Great App. But i am facing an issue controlling keen vents when i set the smart app to follow the thermostat setpoint it closed no matter how far is the current temp from the setpoint + offset. In the log i can see the following error: java.util.concurrent.TimeoutException: Execution time exceeded 20 app execution seconds: 81736915692378 @line -1 (LOG)

And this is the complete log:

Hi,

I tried and is working now. Thanks!

I have a question. I notice the vents open and close when i modify the configuration and the HVAC is not running. Are the Vents been pooling / Adjusted all the time or just when the HVAC is calling for heat or cool?

Also a couple of suggestions:

  1. Is it possible to add an Open the vent when fan only? I use the fan only to cirulate air thru the house and i would like to make sure all the vents are 100% open
  2. Is it possible to add a maximum porcentage of the the vent open. Today is minimum or 100%. But what if i know a room will always need less than 100%?

Thanks again

Martin

The vents open/close/readjust each time you reconfigure, just to be sure that they are open and/or at the right percentage closed. Otherwise they are adjusted only when the thermostat operating mode changes.

The two suggestions are reasonable - I’ll look into adding them soon…

Ecobee Suite Updates posted on 24 November 2019 at 7:50am EST

Changes include:

  • Ecobee Suite Manager, version 1.7.39
    • Fixes a type checking error when either heatingSetpoint() or coolingSetpoint() is omitted from call to setProgramSetpoints()
  • Ecobee Suite Routines, version 1.7.17
    • New option to disable Notifications if the HVAC Mode is ‘off’
  • Ecobee Suite Smart Mode, version 1.7.23
    • Fixes a typo that prevented some internal temperature-driven changes
  • Ecobee Suite Smart Vents, version 1.7.15
    • Optimizations to avoid the dreaded SmartThings execution timeout exceptions
    • New Feature: Option to specify vent status when HVAC is running Fan Only - choices are open, closed or unchanged. Replaces old option to close vents on Fan Only (existing installations automatically converted on upgrade to this version).
    • New Feature: Option to specify the maximum vent level (in addition to existing minimum vent level setting). For rooms that you know don’t need fully-open vents to heat/cool effectively.
    • When setting thermostat offsets for the target setpoints, Helper now displays the actual temperatures that will be watched for on the sensors for that room’s setpoints.

These updates are recommended for all Ecobee Suite users

Ecobee Suite Smart Vents updated 25 November 2019 at 11:00am EST

  • Ecobee Suite Smart Vents, version 1.7.17
    • Fixes condition where vent state would not be changed as expected

I am new to this and still working though on how to use this. Kind of wish there was a tutorial. I have thee Ecobee’s installed. First off in android I don’t see all those pretty colors and all the functions that should be there so I am sure I am doing something wrong.

So the only thing I want to do for now is to set up the schedules of what to set when and have them use all the temp sensors I have in each room. I came from NST manager so I have a lot to learn. Switch because I could not control them anymore.

Never mind. Using Webcore and created my own program. However I am using your device driver to support it, Thx

So just been trying to tweak my individual rooms temps and started watching closely. Doesn’t appear that the vents ever open, log might say vents should be open but they are always closed in the St app. Usually if they drop off then I get no info returned but it appears to be grabbing info. Everybody’s vents actually functioning? I’m not home so I can’t physically check but as far as st is concerned, looks like they always closed. In log the “guest room” tab says 14% which is my closed value set at 15, then “guest room (open)” will show vents should be open. Conflicting info but st does show it at 14 not open.

One thing I also noticed was if I set the level to whatever number, say 57 before heating, it does reset it to my closed setting when temp reaches set value. So it can set min off but nothing to do with open.

Version #'s and Live Log for ES Manager, Thermostat and Smart Vents, plus config settings for Samrt Vents, please. I can’t help you without any information.

Yup my post was just incase others noticed the same thing, driving home for a long time so will post later tonight with the details. Thanks

Be sure to update to the latest version of Smart Vents (1.7.16)…

Yup just updated everything a few days ago
