Im stuck further down now. If i type in the box ‘turn on living room light’ it will turn on. If it type ‘this is a test’ it works as intended ( i think, i get the text in the the request and response windows), however i fail on the next step, when i ask alexa ‘tell home this is a test’ she doesn’t reply with the message

What happens if you ask to turn the light on?

It works, it comes on, but i suspect its working through the Amazon Alexa smart app and not Echosistant, If you go by the live logs.

What is under EchoSistant logs?

You are set up correctly.

Any ideas why the ‘tell home this is a test’ isn’t working for me? I get a little bing bong type noise or “i don’t know that one” reply

or do i just need to move along now with the rest of the setup if its all ok?

Just move along, it appears that test phrase is broken.

what can I do about this ?

It is nothing we can do to make Alexa translate what it hears into what you actually intended. If EchoSistant doesn’t recognize a command and a group, then it belives you are trying to send a message. This is what your posted logs shows too…

but when I say “it is too dark in the lounge” it understands it and turns on the lights in the lounge.
I say the same thing just changing lounge to saloon.
it does not match it to the saloon profile. there’s something missing in this profile but I can’t figure out.
and I believe I won’t be able to figure out if someone who understands how Echosistant profiles work in AWS skill, does not help me.

besides, as I already mentioned twice, I have 2 similar profiles , saloon and lounge. Their response on AWS skill test page are different.
this has nothing to do about my prononciation or what alexa hears. it is totally written text and responses different.

I think I understand a little bit on how they work. I am one of the two who created them

Going back to this post…

This is the part we have no control over what Alexa interprets…

This is a different story. Let’s work in PM. Please send me a detail screen of what is different between the profiles. If you successfully installed one profile, the saloon should be an identical copy of the one that works…

Well, Bobby and I will try to help, but I don’t think we are really experts on this…

Like I’ve asked you for a couple of times already…

Screen shots of your logs, NOT copy and paste.

screenshots of my profiles from the smart app is here.
they are similar except that the devices are different in them. also saloon has “message output” settings as suggested in the wiki. but “message output” shouldn’t be related to how it is matched to the profile, right ?

well, today it started to work.
now when I say “it is too dark in the saloon” it brightens the lights in this profile.
however, when I say “turn off automation in the saloon” it just does nothing…
this is not stable. I don’t know why.
maybe it is about the keyword “saloon”
