[DEPRECATED] Blink Camera Device Handler with Motion Sensor, Live Video Streaming, Integration with SmartThings/SHM, Temperature, Signals and Push Notifications

Ah, that’s the problem. I thought I was going crazy. Rebooting everything. :relieved:

So this is interesting.

I ordered before I saw that they were being sketchy about official integration either directly with ST or with RBoy. I saw it and immediately cancelled the order about 10 minutes later via an email to their support.

I never heard anything back from them, they’ve charged my account and we’re past 7 day delivery. When I check the order it still says “We’ve accepted your order, and we’re getting it ready.”…

Going to have to poke them I think.

Contact them back via one of the links on this Blink page:

http://support.blinkforhome.com/

That’s basically what I used.

Ironically I think they just got delivered…

I keep getting an OAuth error when trying to activate my blink account. The 5 cameras show up after it logs in successfully. But when it is configuring it says to check the OAuth settings for the app. I have tried deleting it and adding it back but have not had any success. I did have it running on a V1 hub but recently upgraded to the V2 hub and haven’t been able to gain access properly on my new hub. Any suggestions?

1st. If you cant get all access on the IDE, enter a ticket to fix your access rights.

2nd. Check the IDE if the OAuth is enabled for the @rboy app.

I have access on the IDE.

When editing the smart app I do have OAuth enabled. I can see my public id and and private secret displayed here.

just a quick check, blink from aztech it’s the same right?
where can i get the device handler and smartapp?
can i set up such a way that i only want recording on motion detected for 1 cam and the other cam just use as normal cam to view when i want to?
how is it as compare to arlo? which is recommended?

Got my 3 blink cameras installed and integrated with my ST system just fine. Also have an Arlo Pro system with 1 camera to compare the two, still not sure which one I’m keeping yet. Using smart lighting I created a simple “turn on light when motion from blink camera” automation, it works but extremely slow to turn on the light, like 6 to 10 seconds, same when no motion to turn the light off. Used the same automation with the Arlo Pro and the light comes on in about a second and turns off right after no motion is detected.

Did you set the recording length to 1 second? See the first post FAQ’s 13 and 14 on how notifications with Blink in SmartThings works.

With all the restrictions with Blink, can the Blink cam be set to take a pic every 30 minutes so it can be used on ActionTiles? Mainly to display weather conditions and snow depth.

I don’t know for sure as I have mine set up to trigger on motion and on external alarms, but from what I’ve read there are two things to consider:

  • Blink’s long batter life is the result of vary sparing use of the cameras and the camera-hub wireless link. Taking a photo every 30 minutes could have an impact on camera battery life.
  • Blink’s earlier (and not fully resolved) threat to ban the SmartThings platform was based on the load the ST community was putting on their servers. Even given @RBoy 's DH permits such automating such snapshots, we want to be careful as a community to keep the fragile peace on the ST integration.

What method were you planning on using to see Blink photos on ActionTiles?

Is there a problem with the site? I just received my login and password. When I click on any of the app link it opens a blank page.
Chrome
No ad block

I just want to have an update as to whether or not they’re making RBoy’s DTH official with ST so that it’s far less unlikely for them to ever retract it, or whether they are working with ST directly to make it official.

Here’s my CoRE Pistons for Motion purposes.
Controller to set video length when Light is on.
Actual rule for light
Follow up Piston just in case a timeout occurs

Quick update. SmartThings community is important Blink so no plans for stopping access. We’re working with them and the ST staff to move this DH into the native ST ecosystem but it’s a slow multi step process. Hopefully that may allow for additional features in future like SHM snapshots and other cool things. Thanks for your support and patience.

I have wanted to buy some new cameras, but have been nervous that if I do, Blink will immediately decide to dump us again.

@RBoy Received my user name and password. When I click a link to a smart app or device handler It goes to a blank page (About:blank) . Same thing happens with your support link and email links, Paypal link works great.

Working fine here. Use Chrome and try clearing the cache and cookies.
