[DEPRECATED] Blink Camera Device Handler with Motion Sensor, Live Video Streaming, Integration with SmartThings/SHM, Temperature, Signals and Push Notifications

No Worries @marktheknife.

Yeh. I recall that, but @nick_at_blink did not post those results for some reason. My thinking is that because a lot of people didn’t chime on this survey for one main reason. It was puerly publesized. I already shot him a PM to keep me in the loop of new surveys which I can post a link to on this thread for everyone to go and chime in on.

How does that sound to you all?

Hi great to have the support from RBoy to integrate, but I have an issue. Got the smartapp in My Apps on the Smartthings android app, it’s logged me in on my Blink ID and identified the 3 cameras, but when I click ‘Done’ it keeps telling me “Error creating Blink camera device”. HELP!?!?!?!?!

Did you install the Blink Camera Device Handler (2 things needs to be installed, SmartApp and Device Handler) and Did you enable OAuth (see first post)?

Hi @RBoy yes installed both aspects and OAuth. It identifies the three cameras it found above my login details but when i hit done it doesnt allow me to. Tried it again today with the same issue. Help is much appreciated

These are the only 2 reasons for the error. Open your IDE Live Logging and
see the actual error. What the mobile app is throwing is just a generic
version.

I would suggest go into your device handler code and click on Publish For
Me. It’s possible you forgot to publish it.

@RBoy God knows how but the device handler had disappeared so I’ve redone it, thanks!

Hi all,

Here is what @nick_at_blink responded to me on the PM.
After I posted my inquiry:

Hay @nick_at_blink,

Can you do me a favor? As I am on both the SmartThings (Blink) thread and here on Blink forums, can you send me future survey links also? Not just post it to the forum. And I will repost to the SmartThings (Blink) forum to get you more responses. I talked already with @Rboy integrator and he thought that if more people were in the know about Blink feature surveys, you can get a bigger sample of responses. How about that?

There’s nothing in there about integration with ST BUT, at the end of the survey (which does have some interesting questions) there is a questions/comments line.

I stressed that official integration needs to happen with ST, I suggest others do so. It’s not that I have a problem with RBoy’s code, I’m very grateful for it, it’s the ONLY reason I went the Blink route BUT, Blink continues to fail at realising the value of integration with other platforms, hell even Ring has official (albeit a little limited) integration now so Blink needs to get their act together.

I’m not even asking to do anything with the video feeds/recordings, just the plethora of sensors that each cam has that would be invaluable to ST users…

At present, Blink is not at fault for not wanting to integrate with SmartThings.
Currently SmartThings has put an indefinite hold on submissions for app(s) approvals and Integrations.

If you and everyone else want to voice your concerns on this topic, Please call Samsung SmartThings Hotline:

And Send them (Many) e-mails asking them to integrate with Blink: "HERE"

Here is what I sent them this Morning:

Good morning SmartThings,

Or lack there off. We in the ST community are in dire need of Integration with Blink camera systems. I have been your devoted customer and supporter since your Kickstarter days. It is time you reword myself and others by following through with your promise of Open platform which will integrate with other home automation systems. It is time for you to step up. And here is the thing, you don’t need to do much work. One of the community developers has already worked with Blink to provide an app/device handler for Blink to work with ST. All you need to do is authenticate the code and implement it. A No Briner! Or just hire the guy and give him/her a consulting fee for continued support/development of the Blink integration code.

Aviating your response.

Regards,

FYI. Please go to the survey form from Blink if you have not yet completed it. They are leaving it opened indefinitely!

Can I use Blink this DH and webcore to get an email if Blink has a clip from specific cameras? Thanks

I just brought an XT outdoor blink camera and having trouble seeing it at times as my sync modular is on the first floor and the camera is on the second and outside the house. I never at a problem where the sync module was located. I guess my question is should I buy a second sync module or move the one that I have now to a more central location. I have a good wifi router Linksys ea9500 and a couple of linksys re7000 range extender any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi @jgirvine,

SmartThings currently and probably will never have e-mail notifications.

Hi @llcanada,

As I am on bothe the Blink community thread and SmartThings community, this has been discussed.
Option1: You ma use a wifi exender; however it has to have same SSID and password as the main router(and be set as a repeater.)

Option2: Get a an On Hub Router for mesh networking like Google Wifi and set them up on different floors for network continuity.

Option3: Get a second Blink Sync module and you can set it closer to the Camera.

However, before you do that. Can you answer my question? Are you talking about the camera to Sync module wifi signal or the camera to router signal.

For Camera to router signal issues, you need the Option 1 or 2.

For Camera to Sync module issue, you need option 3.

@lmosenko I have Option 1 already set up and it cover my house with an wifi extender upstair and one in a detach garage and both is extenders and seems that I have good coverage and both have the same id and password. I pretty sure that it a Camera to Sync module issue as my house is old and has plasterboard with wire running throughout but I have a good wifi sytem and do have other camera that I use also. I really like the new XT camera and would like to add more because of ease of use. I’m going to work on this by moving the sync closer and see if that works better? If you have any suggestion on what I should do let me know and thanks for your time.

Did SmartThings tell you this or Blink?

@Tyler if possible, could you provide any input from the SmartThings side of things please?

Hi @benj,

I am on both forums Blink and SmartThings and see this issue talked about daily. So for the most part I am reposting the responces from Blink staff and my own observations on this issue.

I have seen from personal experiance that a camera on my deck which is under my overhang had bad sync module reseption and I moved sync module a few feet to keep it at the center of my house and bang both of my cameras placed outside received 4 bars of signal quality. And as fo my router, I upgraded the old FIOS router to their newest gateway and my wifi issues went out the window.

FYI from Blink Community Forum.

New Blink Feature Ranking Feedback form. Please go and complete!

Update to my Solar Powered Blink Project.
Just purchased 2 of these Solar Panels to run my 2 Blink cameras already installed outside my house. Wish me luck that the panels are of desent quality. Will post an update when they are installed.

How can Iid like to set up a notification from webcore that will send a push notification if my camera’s battery is below a certain threshold. Any idea how to accesss the device’s battery attribute?
