CentraLite Keypads

I’m having a terrible time getting this to work with the Lowe’s Iris keypad. I’ve installed the required DTH and SmartApps from post 738. Smartthings finds the keypad.

From there the green light in the upper right corner just flashes forever. If I press test it beeps and things start getting updated like the battery and temperature.

When using either the lock manager option or the 3400 app (either, not both) nothing happens though. I see nothing in the logging indicating when I press keys that anything is happening. On the device itself the green light in the upper right is off and it flashes red on the Off, Partial, and On buttons.

Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem. I Removed anything related to it, and paired it. Then added the device handler to ST. then applied Device handler to keypad. they I used lock manager to program it. Once that was done I waited for the programing success beep. It took about 5 or so mins before I head it beep. Then it worked like a charm.

Some people have reported “Wait a few minutes” to work, although I had some issues with that myself.

The official instructions say when that light is flashing like that, press the tamper switch once (On the back, under the little mounting triangle thing). That got it to finish pairing up for me (Pressing the tamper causes the device to request to enroll in the security management).

Tried what you recommended and what the post above recommended. Neither worked.

Pressing the button the back 5 times did give me a solid green for the connection symbol though. However, as soon as I tried to enter a code it turned off and started flashing the “On/Partial/Off” back at me.

Maybe I just have a bad device. It sends temp and battery data. It switches modes if I manually change the alarm. It just can’t seem to connect properly to send keypad data to ST.

Update. Returned unit and got a new one. Issue resolved. Go figure.

This morning after returning home the keypad got into a weird state where on my phone I was switching back to “I’m Home” but the keypad kept reverting to exitDelay. The keypad eventually lost connection too but the whole mess kept setting off the siren in the house.

Given I’ve had connectivity issues twice now I’m inclined to return this Iris keypad again. Has anyone had issues with connectivity using the Centralite keypad?

Thanks for posting this. I installed the device handler and found the keypad with ST, then I loaded the smart app on the API, But not sure what to do next. I cannot find the smart app on my phone. and I do not know what the keypad functions are supposed to be.

Adding the smartapp in the IDE makes the app available in the “my apps” section of the smartapp marketplace. Check there and you can actually install the smartapp.

Thanks a million. That is it! I was missing the last step. I purchased the IRIS keypad from the shelve at Lowes, They have it on sale for $29 for the 4th of July weekend. (Model is 3405-L). It now works GREAT.

Any thought about allowing the smartapp to take more direct action that triggering a routine? I ask because, what if a routine fails to run due to a ST or other intermittent issue? Might be nice to have additional options. Any thoughts?

Everytime i use a device handler that works the network green light rapidly blinks all the time. I tried a different handler and the lighg stops after i enter the pin but it wont change the state of ST.

Nvm I got it. Nice took two days but good now so far.

ConradSykes & Others,

Any way to get a newbies version of HOW (Step by Step) to

  1. install the Iris Keypad
  2. How to install SmartAlarm
    • I found it in the Marketplace and configured it. But can’t figure out where and how to get it to work. There is absolutely no delay when my alarm is triggered to when it goes off.

Thanks in advance

Luis

I would love to help but I have not gotten that far. I think you need to use a smart app for it. Maybe smart alarm. I installed the app into ST but have not gotten to play around with it as I am new to ST also. I started with the kit and said I would start small. But within 2 weeks I have about 45 devices.

Okay, I’m sorry guys. I’m very new to this stuff and not very tech savvy. I’m trying to install the Iris keypad from Lowe’s. I’ve been reading about IDE and code and custom smart apps. None of this makes sense. I’ve gone through my SmartThings app looking to figure out how to add a custom app, but can’t find anything. I’m going blind with all this. I’ve also looked through so many post, but every one I seem to come across, is someone that sounds as if they have already done some of this before.

Thank you so much in advance to anyone willing to put up with me needing instructions in a way that a non-computer programming guy like me can understand. FYI, I have the Samsung SmartThings Home Monitoring kit and an IPhone.

I can’t post instructions at work but they are all over the forum. You need to add them via the web. You can’t with the app.

The following is the overview of custom code. The process is pretty straightforward, basically you copy someone else’s code and paste it into your account through the web interface (not through the mobile app).

But read the overview, and then if it sounds like something you’d like to go ahead with, we can help you get started. :sunglasses:

I am having similar issues. I have learned about DTHs and APPS. THANKS JD. From here I:
Linked Keypad to ST …found 3405-L keypad
copied MitchP’s Centralite Keypad code and created a DTH.
saved DTH and published to me.
downloaded buttons smartapp
linked button app with keypad.

When I go to Things and select keypad I get a page withthe first 3 squares with –
the next row of three squares with configure in dark grey and the reset and horn in light grey. none of which do anything. On the last row is a test button. When pressed it makes the keypad beep 10 times. Can anyone help me make this work? I am now on day 4 without success.

Did you change the device type in your devices page to the centralite keypad after you added the DH?

Checked in My Devices and appears I have centrallite as the keypad type.

BTW…How do you determine or set the access code?
