Before I start a new thread I wanted to ask what I think has been answered as NO.

So…
I have a rental house, using ST v3 Wifi Hub, a bunch of ST Door Sensors/Motion sensors, Schlage door locks and First Alert Fire Alarms. ZERO issues for the last 18 months.

There must have been some sort of ISP / power outage cause I went to the rental and had to reboot the cable modem. I then saw that the ST v3 was green but in the ST app it said disconnected. Also I noticed that Plume App was not able to connect to it, all the while I was still connected to the ST/Plume Wifi and browsing. So I rebooted the ST WIfi Hub, it came back solid RED.

Did a factory reset and after a few times of it not connecting (just went solid red) I brought it home.
Now playing with it at my home I was having the same issues but it seems now to be stabilized and working as expected in ST App and Plume and even set it back up with the same SSID’s.

Question - (finally I know)
When I take it back to the rental and plug it in:

  1. What should I expect from all the ST Door/Motion Sensors / Door Locks / Fire Alarms that were all connect NOT by Wifi? Suggestions on how to reconnect them?
(I know all the Wifi devices will need to reconnect, no issues there, I can do that)

  2. Thinking that I was not going to be able to recover the ST Wifi Hub I went and bought the new Aeotec SMartHub, should I keep this or try to leveage the ST V3 Wifi Hub?
The only downside is that the Aeotec does not offer Wifi / router capabilities though I have no issues adding a wifi router and managing it.

First, just to be sure we’re all talking about the same thing…

The SmartThing V3 hub is model GP-U999SJVLGDA or STH-ETH-300 and does not participate in a Wi-Fi mesh network.

The Samsung SmartThings WiFi Hub with Plume is model ET-WV525KWEGUS and does establish a Wi-Fi mesh network.

These are two different models with different firmware and different capabilities.

It sounds like what you have is the Wi-Fi mesh model, but I just wanted to be sure.

I see in the Hub Details it is ET-WV525.

Ok, then it is not a “V3 hub.” It is a “Samsung SmartThings WiFi Hub with Plume.”

Once you factory reset it, you will have to individually reset each of the Z wave and Zigbee devices and re-add them. For security reasons, this cannot be done remotely: it requires physically manipulating each device.

For Zigbee devices, typically you just have to take them off power and put them back on power again, although there may be a button you have to hold down while you do it.

For Z wave Devices, they will need to first be “excluded” and then added back to the hub.

You can get in touch with support to be sure, but as far as I know that’s the only way to do it.

You will need to find the user manual for each individual device to find the exact steps that will be required for it.

Thanks I will stop calling it V3.
I will look into how to “exclude” the Z wave so that I can add it back in.

Should I need to do anything at the IDE site?
