Announcing beta for enabling raspberry pi direct-connected devices

This topic was originally created to announce a package I had created that would enable you to set up a Raspberry Pi-based device that uses the SmartThings direct-connected device method of integrating with SmartThings.

Be aware that as of version v1.8.0 of the Core SDK, it appears that Raspberry Pi support may be included(!), making my package no longer necessary. I have not tried this out, so cannot confirm. See the raspberry subdirectory within the example directory of the SDK.

My package will continue to be available, but be aware that it currently uses the master branch version of the SDK. I have not regression tested it against the release v1.8 branch, but am happy to do so if needed.

UPDATE: I have tested the new built-in Raspberry Pi support in Release v1.8 and it works! There is one issue that I’ve reported: you must have a password configured for your wifi access point: I tried a scenario without one, and it failed. The SmartThings team indicated that they will fix it.
