Amazon announces $20 Echo Buttons for playing trivia games with your family

Yeah, and there’s a developer API, so these may be able to be a $10 light switch button for some set ups. Very cool. :sunglasses:

$10 buttons that would work with ST would be great.

Can these be used as triggers?

Only if there’s a skill that recognizes them. That’s what the games that use them do.

I don’t know if @MichaelS has looked into their potential at all for something like askAlexa.

I actually have been asked a few times by folks to include these. I have heard rumors some developers were looking to integrate them with SmartThings, which would allow use in Ask Alexa today; however, I have not seem this DTH yet. Might be time for me to look into this.

You are responding to a post which is five years old, and the device in question has since been discontinued by Amazon.

If you do happen to find some, say on eBay, they can now be integrated with smartthings via Alexa routines (not SmartThings routines).

So a lot has changed in five years, and it’s now quite doable, but the device itself is no longer sold new. :disappointed_relieved:

If you want an alternative, most buttons/remotes that work with a hue bridge can now be used to trigger an Alexa routine, so that’s one way.

Flic buttons, although expensive, do work with both smartthings and Alexa routines, but you do need their mini hub for the integration.

And of course, there are other buttons that work directly with smartthings.
