HA integration with ST has been a roller coaster, first the PAT changes few days before Christmas 2024 with no time to create a new integration, then in February 2025 SmartThings was proud to announce a new integration where both teams were “working closely” and just a year later they suddenly make that integration a subscription service. Was that the plan from the beginning?
I don’t know about Samsung appliances, but if they don’t have a local API, preferably standard, and the only way to integrate them anywhere is a montly subscription then it is indeed wise to avoid them, just as any other cloud-only device that is ultimately subject to the vendor will.
