Zigbee module for led dimmable ceiling fan light

Looking at getting this dimmable, temp changable fan light with remote.

Can anyone recommend a module that will work with uk wiring and allow me to switch off light and fan independantly as well as dim (and ideally change light colour too although this is not essential!)

Note - I’m in the US and it’s possible that I’m being redirected to a different version of the fixture but I’m proceeding with the assumption that you and I are seeing the same thing.

Unfortunately in my experience a device like that is not easy for automation. It has a DC fan motor, where typical Zigbee modules are designed for AC devices. The LED being integrated is similarly an issue. The only type of automation you can do here (without heavily rewiring the internals of the device) is to put a fan-rated on/off switch at the supply that will control power for the whole fixture.

Looking at what’s available at B&Q as a sample, most of their ceiling fans also have DC motors or an integrated remote. This monster was the only one I saw that looked likely (based on what’s in store, since my experience with our hardware stores is that the stuff you can order for delivery is largely junk, and they tend to keep the good stuff on the shelf). Even then, wiring in the control module is likely a bit more complicated than here, since your fans all seem to be supplied with these lovely wire pigtails that make them easier to install but less obvious to know if the fan and light wiring is separable inside.

If you find a prettier equivalent to this, and color changing is on your list, my approach would be to figure out where to separate the wiring for the fan and light; install a fan control module in the fan wiring and keep the light hardwired to always on; and install a zigbee bulb(s) in the socket that will give you direct control on the color and dimming.

Good luck!
