Yonomi App

@Mbhforum – thanks for the confirmation! Have a wonderful weekend – and as always – please reach out if you ever have support issues with Yonomi!

Man, should have read this before I recreated my routines. Was just about to post that deleting and creating new routines fixed the issue. But apparently just running the discovery fixed it. Anyhow I am back in business too. Thanks.

So I just purchased a harmony home control remote and hub. I also have Philips hue lights and an Echo.

Is it correct that I can use this app to interact with the three and wouldn’t need to bring ST into the mix?

So many options can get confusing

Correct. I use Yonomi with Harmony without ST. It works great and much easier to setup.

I’m in the same boat,Hue & Echo. Trying to figure out what to spend my fathers day Amazon credit on. I need a new toy. Looking at the just the Harmony hub.

One question. I have a Cox cable box that will “go to sleep” after a couple of hours. When I use the Cox remote to turn on my TV, I also have to turn the cable box on to get it out of the (I think) the energy conservation mode. That’s a total of 4 buttons I have to push! How can people live that way!

Does anybody know if the Harmony hub can just wake up my cable box & not turn it on or off completely?

Yes, your 4 button push activity turns into one “activity” with Harmony and a voice command to operate it via Echo (and Yonomi) So you never need to touch a button again…

I’m gonna get that Harmony hub then. My next project will be to teach my dog to get me a Busch Light and open it for me!

Thanks

I plan on installing my new Harmony Hub later this week. A question about changing channels. Can I “name” the channel by its actual #, like 9? Or would I need to name it ABC?

I’m familiar with the Echo naming quirks. I want to have the ability to change about 20 channels & I have the channel #'s memorized. I would appreciate some hints from those that already have this up and running.

It probably won’t work.

Just the numbers definitely won’t work. You can try using the words “nine” or “twenty seven” but I found those only work about a third of the time.

Don’t use any special characters in the name, including dashes.

If you already have an echo, it’s easy to test just by creating a group with that name and seeing if Echo works with it. But it looks like numbers are reserved words for echo.

On the other hand…

If you use the IFTTT method, it works fine. “Alexa, trigger channel twenty seven” works every time. You still have to write out the number as a word though.

I’ve just come across this app and downloaded it.
It discovered some of my devices ok, but not others.
Also I could not find anything to let me integrate it into smartthings.
Could see lots of other cloud based products but not smartthings.
Have I missed something somewhere.

Yonomi does not integrate with SmartThings.

It only has a few integrations. But many people find the Yonomi/echo/harmony integration useful. It’s somewhat easier to set up than the SmartThings/echo/harmony integration.

Ah Ha.
Ok thanks.
This is not for me or my setup then.
Thanks again.

Hello @Murray1! Excellent question.

Here’s our take on your Echo / Logitech / Yonomi integration:

You’ll need to create “Activities” in the Harmony app that tune to your various stations. You can name those activities whatever you want. Then, you’ll need to create Yonomi routines that start each of those activities. If you want to call out the channels by name, you should name the routines things like “Thirty Four” (spelled out), and then say - “Alexa, turn on Thirty Four.” It seems that Alexa has trouble with the word “channel” (it may be a reserved word) so we don’t suggest using that word.

We hope that helps, and as always, please let us know how it works and if you have any additional questions!

p.s. Thanks @JDRoberts! You’ve really got the hang of our app!

A question about Echo / Logitech Harmony hub only / Yonomi integration.

I have just the Harmony hub, no Harmony remote & I’m thinking about the WAF! If the boss occasionally uses the standard cable box remote; will that screw things up?

When someone uses the cable box remote or the TV remote then harmony doesn’t know what activity you’re actually in until you request a new activity from Harmony.

That often affects people who are using a Harmony remote, since pressing the buttons on it may not give the expected results.

However, it shouldn’t affect anyone using echo or Yonomi since that process is going to request a new activity anyway which will synch harmony back up again.

So if I understand the question, you should be fine. :sunglasses:

Need some help with my Yonomi / Harmony / Alexa setup. I can tell Alexa to “turn on tv”, and my tv & cable box (which goes to sleep mode after so many hours) come on. But having trouble figuring out the best way to turn the tv off with Alexa.

Any hints would be appreciated.

All you need is to tell Alexa to turn off [hub name]

I named my hub in Yonomi as ‘TV’.

Thank you again for posting this solution on here! Just ran into Alexa error of ‘that command doesn’t work with that device’. Rerunning the Echo discovery fixed the issue right away!!!

Ok, I think it’s working. Had to change “turn on tv” to “turn on watch tv”. Otherwise Alexa was confused about which tv.

Many thanks!
