You don’t have to use Github. You can do it manually just not as easy. If you do use Github make sure you check the publish box.
I think that’s right. I’m new to the Github scene too.
I haven’t update to latest version yet. Got home last night to dead router so I’m suffering from smarthouse down issues. Can’t do anything online till tech comes.
Of note, a couple of these only updated to a new version after running through the GitHub integration, the original files from the actual GitHub site page weren’t current. Weird.
As of this AM, I’m still able to authenticate the app, but I still get the page save error and, although the trigger will eventually build out if you just keep ignoring the page save error, it won’t let you back out or “Done” out of the page to the front of the app. It forces you to back out and reminds you that you’ll lose any data on the page, thus it never creates a working trigger.
I’m on iOS. I’ll run live logging and post it. Yes, if you ignore the page save error and just move to the next field on the page, the one before it will eventually show the correct data. Usually after I try to save the following field. But it will never let me get back out of the page with everything filled in. Pressing Done just spins the wheel and trying to back out tells you data won’t be saved. Logs to follow.
So I started reading posts and things just did not make any sense, until I found this install guide.
So i followed this guide (Yes I was so far off base before this guide)
I immediately found that half the smart apps had removed them self after completing these steps, but I still have 3 with no way to remove them.
You can uninstall errant apps in the IDE, I’m not home right now so I can’t give you more specific info. I’ll check later when I’m home.
I know several people have had issues with getting this to work. I had it working good but upon my last update I am also having issues.
I haven’t messed with it in some time due to working alot. There hasn’t been much activity in this lately. I’m wondering if @infofiend has also been busy.
As for Your last error did you enable Oath when you installed everything in the IDE?
I do see were I can delete the app “code” from its properties in the IDE, but I only have one “Gal Search” and one “GCal Search Trigger” in there.
Its the app that shows multiple installs.
Would removing the code remove all of them from the app as well?
Are cause even more headache?
it seems like I had this problem once with SHM and ST support had to reset my full account to fix it.
And I do not want to go there again…
I have for “GCal Search” I also tried resting the Oath…
Yes you can delete and edit there. The location I am talking about is if you log into the IDE.
Then on top left select your location
Then scroll all the way to the bottom and you’ll see installed smart apps, click on “List SmartApps”
that will open another page listing ALL the SmartApps you have installed.
Scroll down and see how many are listed for your location. Here is what mine looks like.
If you have extras?? then scroll back up to the top of the page. If you click the “Edit” text in blue right below your locaation and to the right of the Installed SmartApps header. When you do all the “Update” blue text will change to “Uninstall” in red.
Now you can scroll back down and hopefully delete your extras.
When done scroll back up and select “Done” where the edit text was before.
Be careful in here once you delete something it will be GONE!!!
As for your other error I really don’t know. I do know other “myself included” missed putting the clientId and ClientSecret data into the Gcal Search SmartApp settings area.
I think I posted about that earlier in this thread
Version 20170419.1 posted to GitHub for Trigger app and for Event (Contact) DTH.
This is a fairly minor update - just (i) cleans up the DTH tiles & conforms the on/off colors and (ii) at the request of a very generous donor, adds a new (hidden) attribute in the Event DTH called “offsetNotify”. The offsetNotify attribute can be used by and/or changed in CoRE, and it:
- turns on if there is a startMsg and
- turns off at the earlier of endMsg or end of event.
I updated to the newest code and I still could not initiate a NEW search string to create an event. It would pause a while the give an error on top of the screen about refreshing error and then not populate the calendar name I selected. It would also slam the live log with all the “null” entries I had previously contacted you about.
So then I started going back to all your previous version releases for Gcal Event Sensor. I started from the initial release and installed them one at a time and then attempted to create a Gcal trigger. I could create a trigger up until I reached version 20170327.1 at this version is when the error refreshing issue happened for me. Prior to that version up to 20170326.1 I could create a trigger and it would create the contact in the IDE and search for events.
When I rolled back to version 2017.326.1 after the failed attempt on 20170327.1 I only had 3 “null” event in the live log. Unfortunately I wasn’t smart enough to watch the live log during previous test of creating trigger before the roll back after the failure. “DUH” Anyway upon the second time rolling back to 20170326.1 I only had 3 “null” entries in my live log. I am assuming they are from Gcal. Here are some screen shouts of what I saw.
Possibly some of this could be since I was ONLY changing the Gcal Event Sensor code? Just found it interesting that I could create triggers before the 20170327.1 version and hoped that might help figure out whats different or changed?
I’m going to go and try to get everything back in sync with Github again since I’ve thrown it out of wack playing around.
I’m so sorry for all of the problems you are having. So you’re saying that you haven’t updated the GCal Search app at all? What version of that app are you using? Have you ever tried to update it to see if that works?
Ahhh, no I was up to date using latest on all the apps and DTH. When I am I can not create a Gcal search trigger. The app gives an updating error. I was experimenting this morning and found if I roll back to version 20170326.1 (or earlier) I can create a search trigger. Just not past that version up to latest version?
My previously set up triggers are working (mostly) but we’ll enough for my use. I was just providing some info.
Am I the only one who can not create search triggers on the latest version?
My experimenting above was with all the other Apps and DTH on current version updated via Github. I was only changing the one App. It would then work like I mentioned above.
