Turn closet light on when door opens

I did this exact action in a closet, used an open/closed sensor and an Everspring AN145 screw in lamp module. You screw the lamp module into the existing socket and then screw any bulb into the other end of the module. It is bulkier, but acceptable for a closet application. I did not have the option for a light switch because this socket was a pull chain.

The easiest is to use the local processing using Smart Lighting using ST multi and GE Link (Cree/Hue/Lux will not run local). Not sure about Osram. I am not a GE link fan and will soon replace as soon as Philips Hue Whites are available (will not be local then though).

They won’t. My wife was bugging me because her closet light (OSRAM tunable white) didn’t come on when she opened it two weeks ago while I was performing the hub reboot for the time-based events fix.
