I want to make sure that everyone is aware of this, This is a huge problem unless you have figured out a work around.

Hello all,
not sure if this is old news or not, but I just received a confirmation that the Thingshield is discontinued and there are no plans to bring it back.
I was asking the Smartthings store when they would be back in stock.
Been under discussion in the forum for a couple of days now:
According to one community member, SmartThings support told him that theThingshield has now been discontinued.
Maybe @slagle or @aaron can confirm?

Pinging this thread… I’ve had some success with a possible thingshield replacement…
Reviving an old thread here, since I can’t find any other progress or work that’s more recent. I’ve had success getting a cc2530 zigbee module to talk to smartthings. So far I can pair it, and blink an led, controlled by a device handler, from my phone. The good thing is, these things are small and just a few dollars!
The chip is very flexible and powerful, about like an arduino. I’m thinking it could be a thingshield replacement, and also could function on its own as a device doing simple things with the (16!) gpios and (8!) analog inputs.
Thoughts? Interested?

Let me know what you think!
You are replying to a thread which is three years old. They have been many discussion threads since that time about various replacements. In particular, see:
UPDATE 2022-08-17 - Per this recent SmartThings announcement, the Groovy IDE will disabled on September 30, 2022 . My best guess is that any existing ST_Anything devices will probably cease to operate at this time, or shortly thereafter. It has been a good 7+ year run for ST_Anything users. I want to thank you all for making ST_Anything a successful project! My son and I really had a lot of fun creating it together, and have enjoyed hearing how you have all used it in so many creative ways.
As many of you probably already know, I have moved on from ST and have ported ST_Anything over to Hubitat as “HubDuino” . If you have devices running ST_Anything that you ‘can’t live without,’ at least you know you have options. Another option for ESP8266/ESP32 users would be to use ESPHome along …
Or if you are looking for something that is specifically Zigbee, see:
Expandable Zigbee Repeater Solution (With Temperature, Humidity, Pressure and Light sensors)
Please don’t resurrect zombie threads (those which Have had no activity for more than a year) unless you have first searched the forum to see if there are more current threads on the same topic.
Otherwise other community members end up reading through dozens and dozens of posts which are very out of date.
Thank you.
