I have got the alerts working but I can’t see the images in activity feed…I am using photoburst app and it does seem to send take photo command. Any idea how to make it work ? Only in couple of instances so far I saw half crippled images in activity feed.

Is this app all i need to take the snapshots when motion is detected or do i need another app?

@DjAnu Are you using my custom photo burst app or the stock one? I think you may need the custom one I created that is in a folder off from the rest of the code.

@BCrippsy38 This app has the ability to capture images automatically on motion set up to detect motion from the Diskstation. You won’t need a separate SmartApp for the capture.

thanks swanny, but where do you view the snapshot? is it possible to get it in the smartthings app? I currently have the cameras emailing me photos on motion, just trying to figure out if there’s a more convenient way to get everything in one location on the smartthings app.

They appear at the top of the screen when you go to the camera device in the mobile app.

I must have set it up wrong, I can see when the motion happens but never see a picture. I also noticed the API ID box is back in the security station, but im still getting motion in the logs.

If you are seeing motion, you are good on that front. Try taking a picture using the “Take” button in the device to make sure you can get an image. If that works, make sure the “Take” button with the double arrows at the bottom is on (blue) as that’s what turns on the auto-take functionality.

If you aren’t able to get an image, I would try using the device to move the camera assuming it has pan and tilt just to make sure the connection is working at all.

When I press take button, it just stays as taking…Take button with arrows wasnt blue, I have changed it to blue now. When I press take button, I see the command sent in logs but I still don’t see any images anywhere. Is there anything I am missing here ?

It’s possible that it’s getting an error retrieving the screenshot. When you updated the code, did you go through the setup process in the SmartApp again? If not, can you try doing that? You don’t need to uninstall or anything, just go through the login process and selecting your cameras.

Can you also verify that you can see an image coming from the camera in the DiskStation tools? I got a similar error when my camera was disconnected.

Which tool did you mean ? I have the synology surveillanceStation working fine…it is taking images as well as recording the videos. Synology is set to detect motion from camera (all the motion detection settings are in camera)…and it has been working fine so far.

I actually just went ahead and uninstalled everything to startover again. But now its not connecting to diskstation at all…Although I am doing it remotely from my phone and I am not on LAN right now…I remember I had to try a few times when I had set it up first time. I’ll try again when I go home.

Yeah, it sometimes does get errors while it’s sending a bunch of the commands in the setup. If you have issues once you try it from home, send me the logs and I can help try to figure out what is going on.

So finally I was able to set up the device. I have 2 cameras. Once I had set it up I was able to capture images. Although sometimes image gets fussy…but at least I am happy to see that take image part is working now :-)…Thanks for your excellent work and being so helpful.

Hi I am having the same issue as @weskyjw. The app is showing the cameras and if I add just one I get a Error saving unnamed page…

I am new to this and will continue to search the post to see if I can find a fix on my own, but I would love some assistance.

I think you need to turn on OAuth in the settings for the Diskstation (Connect) SmartApp.

With take snapshot image is either not coming everytime or coming messed up
