[SURVEY] Vote for Your Favorite Z-Wave/Zigbee Motion Detectors / Sensors

I updated my post and the poll so you can vote for it now.
Thanks!

It would not let me add these to my original post but here are 5 star review polls for each of the sensors:

When I click on a rating for a sensor it doesn’t register my vote

I decided to just go with the top poll.
I just deleted the 5 star review option.
Figured I’d just go with the main poll for now to keep it simple.

If a moderator could enable me to edit my original post I would add the 5 star voting to the original post. I think that would be most useful.

Untrue actually, it’s not letting me add polls to my post without a moderator.
I’ve created reply post with the rating systems again.

If a moderator could move this to my main post and leave the first poll in place as well I’d love it.

Got ya. I didn’t know that! @joshuairl Nice, it works now! This is very cool

@SBDOBRESCU Is there any reason why you feel the Ecolink sucks? (I like the price tag…) but many people have said they work great for them…?

Great to see so many votes!
Would love to hear more about peoples reasoning for the way they vote to help others base buying decisions.

You aren’t allowed to move, edit, or re-arrange polls after 5 minutes.

Even me. The argument being that if a poll is unfavorable to someones objective they can’t just remove it.

Fair enough! Thanks for all you do Tim!

About Ecolink, it’s a personal opinion comparing to other sensors. I had more false alarms with them. If you want them to be pet imune, you need to play with little tags inside, but if you do so, the motion stays active for a long time. You need to keep them on ‘test’ mode to get them to deactivate quicker, but that increases the chances for false alarms. I have 5 of them and all react slow at motion, I had to place them in rooms that I don’t care if there is a Wink like lag when the lights come on.

So you’re saying if you’re using one to turn on a light… how long would you say it takes on average for the light to come on? or are you referring to something different? I do understand there is a difference between the time it takes to report motion again… I’m guessing the test mode is the 5 seconds and the regular mode is like 4 minutes or so?

It would be nice if you could select multiple sensors at the top, I have 3 different types. Also FYI, there are two versions of ST motion sensors.

Well… I did set it to type=multiple and min=1 and max=3 so it was supposed to allow up to 3 choices.
It also shows up to 3 choices in the preview when I go to edit my post…

@slagle any clue why it shows you can choose 3 of them in preview of my post but only allows 1 choice after published?

I’m using my phone right now so maybe it’s a limitation of the mobile view?

No it’s doing it on Chrome on desktop as well. :-/

I am not seeing that with ecolink. I luv them because I have only had 1 false alarm and that was when batteries were low below 40%.
I have 9 of them installed and only have had to change the batteries in that one in 4.5 months.

in comparisions I also have the aeon ver 5 and ver 6
the ver 5 eats batteries a set every 1-1.5 months
the ver 6 is crappy with uv and light sensitivity and the api settings for how often to wake up don’t seem to work well. The settings to wake on temp changes etc do.

I have quick response to motion, ,within 3-5 secs… but I leave the jumper in the default non test mode setting. otherwise you will go through batteries much faster and the reset time after sensing motion is 3-4 minutes before resetting.
This is by design so once there is motion it doesn’t have to keep polling constantly.

(it would be nice if that is seteable but it is not)

The biggest thing I like is that I have not had false alarms due to my pets…
