Odd story the other day. We discovered we had a bat in our home. Pretty common this time of year in this part of the country. After hours of battling the bat, and getting much closer to it then we’d have liked, we were able to catch it. I called the game commission to pick it up for testing (rabies) purposes. While at work, the game commission officer calls and say he is 5 minutes from my house and could pick it up. Problem is, I work about 30 minutes away, and have a full day scheduled. Any contact with a wild animal like that is time sensitive, so the officer needed the bat as soon as possible.
Because of my Smart Things set up, I was able to pull out my iPad, lock the interior garage door (just to secure the house), and then open the garage door so he could go in and get the bat.
Because of the speed of all that, test results were obtained the next day and we were able to take the appropriate action.
Really glad we had ST!
