SmartThings Tesla Integration

Wow! It’s about time!

The free API solution for Hubitat has moved to a pay service. Curious if ST will have similar pricing.

Whadda ya bet it does! IIRC, many of the features of the latest electric vehicles require subscription services of some kind or another. It really is all about the money…

I’m hoping SmartThings implements local access. ST Hub connects to teg wifi access point and connects to teg directly. This needs to work without internet, local access, because when power goes out so does power to internet infrastructure.

Second quarter, getting closer…. For Powerwall integration.

Any update on tesla integration for SmartThings?

Any updates on Tesla integration?

It sure would be nice if they’d get that done!

Done, now what can you do with it?
It is in Life-energy-link to partners.

I don’t see the ability to go off grid or to be able to use ‘off grid’ as precondition…
Also, I run self powered, so having grid usage is meaningless in life-energy as it is always zero. Would rather see “power meter” in life I think.

Request Powerwall reserve setting be added and ability to switch off grid/on grid.

Hmmm… All I get is an error saying
“Something went wrong… Try to install the SmartApp again.”
But Tesla says I’ve granted ST access.
(It does want the app account, not the TEG login??)

Tesla account login, not TEG password.

That’s what I though, but it continually fails. I Removed access to Tesla and tried again - same result… Oh well; it doesn’t look like it does much of anything… Tesla definitely thinks that ST has access, so it seems to be on the ST side of things.

Thanks for your updates on this. I connected my Powerwall yesterday. I’m interested in turning things off when off-grid, and it looks like Tesla exposed that information, but I can’t find any place to act on such actions. See screenshot showing the different properties that are available:

Looks like we should have the ability to change, or at least trigger things/routines, off of pretty much all the properties of the Powerwall. Hopefully those abilities come soon.

Often, components are available to view, but not available for Routines in the mobile app (due to being left out of the device presentation definition). However, 3rd party tools like the rules engine sharptools.io can often access those components and can be used to create automations. The only down side is they run in their cloud, not locally on a hub.

Thanks for this! I went back and re-read their press release and they never said that we would be able to set up routines on the different states, only that we could use their AI to have it do things. As soon as I have a few minutes, I’m hoping to set something up using sharptools. Since the Tesla integration requires an internet connection, I’m not too worried if things execute in the cloud.
