Last update has broken adding Leviton devices. Not sure about QR code adding but devices that do not have one will crash once you get to the part to pick the type and all types crash. These do not have QR codes on them. Happens in iPhone and iPad. Deleted and re-added app too. I call SmartThings but not sure how far that is going to get me or how quick. I really do not want to wait 2 months until the next update to fix and add devices in my house. Any thoughts on how to get in touch with higher tech support?
Are you able to Scan for nearby devices?
I always had issues with this in the past but I got one added that way. Will try with the others. Thanks.
Strange thing I noticed about the SmartThings iOS app since I just purchased the new SmartThings Station hub and was setting it up.
I have both iOS and Android devices, and on âanyâ of my SmartThings Hubs, the âZigbee Secure Modeâ setting is opposite of the Android setting. When the setting is toggled On in iOS, this setting is toggled Off in Android. This setting alternates in opposite directions between iOS and Android no matter which device or SmartThings hub I change it on.
So off to the SmartThings Advanced GUI I go! When it shows that âUnsecure Rejoinâ for any Hub is âFalseâ, iOS shows the âZigbee Secure Modeâ toggle as Off while Android shows it as On. Alternatively, when it shows that âUnsecure Rejoinâ for any Hub is âTrueâ, iOS shows the âZigbee Secure Modeâ toggle as On while Android shows it as Off.
Iâm thinking that when the SmartThings Advanced GUI shows that âUnsecure Rejoinâ for any Hub as âFalseâ (aka itâs not allowed), that means the âZigbee Secure Modeâ should be toggled On in the app. And when the SmartThings Advanced GUI shows that âUnsecure Rejoinâ for any Hub as âTrueâ (aka itâs allowed), that means the âZigbee Secure Modeâ should be toggled Off in the app. If so, then that means the âZigbee Secure Modeâ setting in iOS is backwards, right???
yes⊠that appears to be the case
Last update has caused some other issues when adding devices. Eventually they add but ive been getting this warning
Ive obviously checked im connected to wifi. My hubs are hard wired and i even turned off 5ghz.
Most devices are adding eventually but ive had some
Today just not adding at all.
Tech support have said they will look into it
I did the customer pay-it-forward thing and submitted the information to SmartThings support, but the response I received was from their AI (non-person) support specialistâs knowledge base that provided me more information about how the secure rejoin setting works. Cool, the AI support specialist knows how the feature works, but the AI support specialist obviously does not have the comprehension skills to acknowledge the issue and provide a knowledgeable resolution response. (grinning, itâs like asking Bixby for support)âŠ
Thank you for reaching out to Samsung SmartThings Support.
We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
In regard to your concern, We would like to inform you that, The Secure Mode toggle blocks or allows insecure ZigBee devices to rejoin.
Secure Mode ON = ZigBee insecure rejoin disabled (most secure)
Secure Mode OFF = ZigBee insecure rejoin enabled (most compatible)In order to allow some devices (like motion sensors) to drop off, and then easily re-join the network (to preserve battery power), there is a feature known as âinsecure rejoinâ built into the ZigBee protocol standard.
If Secure Mode is ON and âinsecure rejoinâ disabled, ZigBee devices may âdrop offâ the network and become unresponsive. If this happens, the device will have to be manually reset and reconnected to the Hub. Removing the device from the app is not necessary or recommended.
For further assistance please write back to us.
Regards,
At least I know for sure which way the âZigbee Secure Modeâ toggle should be, but too bad their AI specialist doesnât. And it referred to âunsecure rejoinâ as âinsecure rejoinâ and âtrue/falseâ as âenabled/disabledâ.
Tagging @AlejandroPadilla . This one is a connection error in the iOS version of the app. So probably a separate issue.
Sure hope the next release arrives soon, assuming, of course, this new bug is corrected. I just bought three plug-in dimmers (DZPD3-2BW) for various Christmas decorations only to discover Iâm unable to use them!
