Outdoor light bulb help

@SBDOBRESCU Can you talk a bit more about your on/off dimming based on various sensors and home modes? Also - which light switches and dimmers do you use?

Are you still using the Wink setup? I’m brand new to smart homes and am still deciding on a hub. A sincere thanks for your knowledge.

It depends on your needs.

  1. Have lights bulbs or switches turn on when motion is detected in the evening and stay on.
  2. Have lights turn on at night and turn off when motion starts.
  3. Have exterior lights turn on when motion is detected on the driveway or side purch.
  4. Baby room night light on when baby wakes up from a bad dream and sends you a notification to your phone.

ST can do all of that in a pinch and more.

Very cool. What are you using as a smart nightlight? Is it the socket?

Thanks for the response. Starting my installs over the next week or two.

I didn’t want to change the dumb switches on my driveway lighting or my deck, so I permanently leave it on and use a Cree connected light bulb.
For basic rule scenarios, you can use SmartLighting in ST app or for more advanced scenarios, you should use something like Core community rule engine. If you need help go to the CoRe thread or you can ask me.
