Any Z-Wave device using a custom handler SmartThings will execute in the cloud but once you set up all your settings, you can manually change the device type to Z-Wave switch (in the IDE portal, click on the switch, scroll down to the Edit button, go to Type, and choose Z-Wave switch from the drop-down menu, then click Update) - this will bring it back to local control. If you need to change settings in the future, you can again change the device type to the custom handler (you’ll find your custom handlers at the bottom of the list under Type) to access the advanced features.
