When I got back home a few minutes ago the routine properly executed and did what it was supposed to do.
The reason I still use routines is because they were setup long before RuleMachine or CoRE and they worked well. So I never bothered to change over. The bulk of my stuff is still on RuleMachine and have been slowly moving things over to CoRE. I have many rules to convert so for me, slow is the way to go.
Makes sense. Yeah, the routing execution works once in a while, about 1 time out of 8-10 attempts…
The piston triggering a routine was actually a stopgap from a previous alpha release of CoRE before you got thermostat control working properly. I’m going to take some time today to transition completely over to CoRE for my thermostat needs, since CoRE has played well with my thermostat using a different piston for quite some time.
I am trying to setup one CoRE piston that can be called from other CoRE pistons.
Example; I have a fob button I can press, or using a presents sensor that can call it. I don’t want to duplicate the same commands to turn off lights, set thermostats, etc. I want to only do it in one place and use simple pistons to link/execute it. Does that make sense?
Ok I tried with Android and I didn’t have the issue anymore. Bummer. Also, what I am trying to accomplish is just a door chime so when my 2 year old goes outside the siren chirps so my wife knows. Currently I have to have the siren go off for 3 seconds at least otherwise the off command doesn’t work. Any recommendations on how to accomplish what I am looking for? Just a simple chime? I have a zipato siren which has a chime function but smartthings doesn’t support that. Someone wrote a zipato driver but it’s for the UK and doesn’t work with my US one. I asked if he could do a US variant but it’s been months with no response. Any other ideas?

The Aeon Labs DoorBell will work for what you want to do, you can have it play any sound (or combination of sounds), I have a chime sound right now every time one of my door sensors or front lock is opened
What is the trigger you’re using to know your kid is going outside?

The manual for that product has the most thorough documentation for the supported zwave protocols that I’ve seen with any device I’ve worked with. This siren also has tons of cool features built in that I’ve had to attempt to simulate in my other siren DTHs.
I’m willing to create the DTH, but since I don’t have the device, you would have to be willing to do the testing and provide me live logging output as needed. The device would be fun to play with, but since I already have 5 sirens, I can’t justify spending $80 for another one.

its a CoRE piston that sends the Doorbell (speaker) a Play Track command whenever any of the contact sensors or lock is opened and I have a simple Sonar Ping as my chime
You could also send your wife’s Phone an SMS or have IFTTT to send a message to the phone (IFTTT does take some time to do its triggers do)
Yeah. There isn’t any non-conditional piston at this time, but you can setup a Follow-Up piston with a condition like Mode is in[select all modes] or something like that. The follow-up pistons never execute on their own and can easily be triggered from other pistons using either the “Execute piston” task or the “Follow up with piston” task. The latter is delayed.

If you’re looking for alternative products, the Aeon Doorbell that @JcMarin mentioned and the Aeon Labs Siren are both great choices.
I have some family stuff going so I’m not going to have much time to work on it this weekend, but if you can provide me with the information below, I’ll be able to spend a little bit of time on it.
I see that you just posted the raw description, so the only other thing I need to know right now is which DTH you’re currently using and which features are working.
