I think it is so odd that we need to buy another speaker for a speaker we already have (Alexa). I understand it doesn’t have the ability for tts bit is thst a hardware or software limitation? Doesn’t the home do tts?
It is a software limitation by Amazon. Technically you can use Echoe devices, but need to use them as a Bluetooth speaker paired to another LAN device like a phone or tablet.
Just thought I would share my results.
Factory reset on both speakers got them connected via Caskeid. Took some tinkering and fiddling.
Long story short appears to work better with a specific speaker as the source for the other??
End result both speakers connected to their Echo and streaming using Caskeid.
Hopefully it will stick.
I get that but why not just enable it. It wouldn’t hurt the echo any. Lol
See my last post just before yours
I did. I just think it was an odd choice by Amazon.
The success of Echoes and the integration into HA was far greater than anybody including Amazon ever anticipated. There’s good reason why it took over 2 years for Google & Apple to release products that can even start to compete with them.
Are these directly compatible?
Or are you using some custom device handler?
I use the smartapp “generic DLNA media renderer”.
Oh cool. Are you using these exclusively for TTS?
and if not are you satisfied with the audio quality on music?
I use then exclusively for TTS… I’m not an audiophile, but I’m happy with the quality…n but I won’t recommend them for music because my opinion on that sucks.
