Hey guys. I was sure that i could control lightgroups directly from my dashboard favourites… did this feature become disabled when some new update hit the air?
Help me out please

If you mean in the SmartThings app, I don’t know of that ever being a feature. No you certainly could have a routine that turns on a group of apps and turn them on with one button push.

I use Trend Setter to create light groups and they show up in the dashboard favorites.
Trend Setter - A SmartApp for grouping devices

I am not usually one for releasing stuff I write because I am my own worst critic and usually self destruct before putting anything out into the general public (I’ve revised this post more times than I’d like to count). I am trying to change that behaviour…
Although I am a software engineer by trade, I am not a Java/Groovy developer so I may not have written some of the code in the most efficient way. I expect this to change from feedback and as my knowledge grows.
I tend to find I use the app to control a lot of things more than anything else so this is useful for that. I have only used this on an Android phone and can’t be sure how it’ll behave on an iOS device due to the parity issues between Android and iOS apps so give no g…

Yes…
Light Groups were a “Dashboard Solution SmartApp” before V2 deprecated those.
Smart Lighting or Routines are the built-in replacement.
Light groups were originally called “shortcuts.” And they did appear on the dashboard. The feature Disappeared in September 2015:
I use to love to be able to look at the dashboard and see if some lights are on if there’s motion, if all my doors are locked closed etc. Now the only thing on the dashboard is the short cut to smart home monitor its really pointless.
The other big grip is yes it’s automation but I’d like to still easily turn on groups of lights with shortcut and you took the ease of that away. I don’t want to have to create a routine when it use to be so easy.
Anyway it really bums me out, I was so excited about the new hub and after reinstalling all of my devices and locks I find this out. It was like a kick in the jewels and a ha ha got yah.
Please fix this only Apple assumes they know what’s best and refuses to fix their mistakes.
No longer available, but this is what it used to look like:
