Immersion Heater Switching with Smart Plug

Hi, I’m new to this home automation thing and finding it incredibly useful. I have had a thought on using one of my Smartthings Smart Plugs to control when my immersion heater comes on or off. The immersion heater runs off a 13amp fused spur, so on paper it should work. Does anyone know of a reason/ regulation(UK) why I can’t change the fused spur to a 3 pin socket and use the Smart plug?

Just make sure the smart switch can take the load, and you should good to go!

I would recommend using the smart switch to control power to a small powercube, which then operates a relay or contactor to switch the actual load. 13A is a bit much for most smartswitches and you may get a burn-up !
