Anyone been able to add this to ST? On the ecobee support page it shows this, but I don’t have this option:
smartThings support told me integration with this product hasn’t gone live YET, try after the launch date (March 26). I think some of us had this product BEFORE smartthings, they first told me this product was not a compatible device and they would create a feature request to have integration added.
It’s supposed to be officially supported. Even the box has the office works with ST branding. Chalk it up to one more miss from ST. It’s getting a little ridiculous. This should havve been ready before ecobee launched it. They obviously had to get approval and with with ST to get the branding.
they clearly were not ready. I wonder if those instructions are for the new smarthings app, and not the smarthings classic app. I don’t have a “lighting and switches” category in the classic app
I’ve reached out to ecobee support regarding ST integration and they said they are working on it and it would be available soon. Sounds more like a problem with ecobee and not ST.
Looks like the Switch+ was finally added to SmartThings. I was able to add it today manually under the “Switches & Dimmers” section.
Anyone else having issues who also uses ecobee connect? When I try to add it, it launches the ecobee connect smart app from @storageanarchy then when I try to save it gives me an error about devices still being in use with other smart apps?
You should uninstall and delete ALL SmartApps and DTHs associated with the old Ecobee support that you may have in your IDE under the “SmartThings” namespace, or you will find yourself running a mixture of SmartThings new versions of those files and these old ones.
This was in fact the motivation for moving my new Ecobee Suite to my own “sandood” namespace. The approach that @StrykerSKS and I took of reusing the SmartThings names causes this conflict.
I just installed mine. Because I am using @storageanarchy’s Ecobee, I did NOT import the thermostat and sensors. All I imported was the switches.
What capabilities does the default SmartThings handler bring in? Just switch? Or also motion, temperature, lux, etc.?
Just the on/off switch. There is a relay inside it that drives the on/off, so this switch will not dim. I do not see the capability for the motion, lux or temperature sensing. I did ask Ecobee to add those. I encourage others to do so as well. More squeaks for the wheel.
Now that they got the integration with ST and Amazon Alexa, I ordered another, this morning, for my laundry room.
So I need to remove my connection to your repository and delete all of the smart apps I have installed the connect to your new repository and reinstall all of them?
Remove all these apps from the listed repository?
Yes, I am sorry to say this, but there was no way around it - I tried, but finally just had to bite the bullet. You can’t have two versions of an app or device with the same name and namespace.
On the plus side, you should be able to install my new Ecobee Suite without removing your existing setup. Then convert/recreate/reconnect the apps one by one, deleting the old ones as you go (you might want to set the polling frequency to 3 or 5 while you do this).
Once done removing all the old SmartApps and devices, then remove them all from the ide. Then you should be able to install the SmartThings support for the ecobee switch from the marketplace.
No worries. I appreciate that you created and support the app for free. If it takes a little more work on my part, so be it. I think I got everything removed and reinstalled. The SmartThings app I need to install my switch is called Ecobee (Connect) like your old app correct? I see my switch in there along with the thermostat and sensor as well. Should those be added back in again along with your new suite? Is there a benefit to having them in their thru that too?
I would advise that you only add the Thermostats and Sensors to my Ecobee Suite Manager, and that you ONLY use the SmartThings Ecobee (Connect) for the switches. They can probably co-exist, but there’s no real value to having both connected to your thermostats/sensors - my Suite offers everthing that the SmartThings support does, and so much more…the Ecobee Switches are just Switches (at least, at the moment).
FWIW, I don’t think Ecobee has enabled the Motion capability of the switches yet - saw somewhere that this is “coming in summer 2018”.
That is what I did and I have yet to run into any problems with either.
i was able to add the switch in the ST Classic app…
in the new ST app, i just get a spinning wheel post authentication for both the thermostat and switch. Tried deleting the ST auth under My Apps in the ecobee portal, did not help…
