Door Chime recommendations

Any decent brands? I read through older posts but I’m sure things have changed since 2016.

I use to have adt system so looking for similar functions but without the monthly fees.

There’s a how to article in the community – created wiki which is up-to-date. :sunglasses:

I’ve recently started to use the Dome or Zooz Siren/Chime combo, and it works very well as a chine and siren, and it’s tiny: (Dome and Zooz are the exact same device)

Here’s the DH and some detail instructions for it: (from Dome’s site)

But @johnconstantelo, we’re also really awesome dudes in general, so you should buy our siren instead =).

LOL, I did actually, and you guys are! I’ve replaced all my Utilitech sirens with yours and have each one dedicated to certain chimes for certain events. I’m curious to see how long batteries last with one of them that I use for a door/window chime. So far, after heavy testing and a ton of traffic, I’m still in the mid-90% range since mid-January.

=) Happy to hear! Are you using SHM to trigger the sirens or something else? Be sure to PM if you have any thoughts/suggestions!

Yup, SHM to trigger the sirens and the smartapp “Speaker Notify with Sound” for chimes. The problem with that app is that it only allows Bell 1 and Bell 2, plus a few other preconfigured sounds. I’m going to have to make a copy of that app andset up the other chimes and bells. Or, I may look at CoRE.

Overall I couldn’t be happier with these devices.

EDIT: CoRE rocks. It’s a ton better, so I’m switching over to it now.

Are there any door chimes that connect to the 24v power that most standard door chimes are already connected to? Ideally, I’d like one that allows for custom notifications through smartthings (like announcing when someone is home) that is powered through the 24v wire that my regular chime is currently connected to. Eliminating the need for batteries. (at least at the chimes) I can close the doorbell button contacts so the chime has constant power and use a wireless button.

If you haven’t seen it already, you can check out A simple way to get alerts when your doorbell is rung. It covers quite a few solutions. You may be able to achieve what you want using an MIMOLite and AC/DC converter hooked up to your existing 24V chime. I just stuck a battery powered sensor in my chime to get alerts when the doorbell rings.

Has anyone had trouble with their Dome Alarm / Chime on the new smatterings app?
