Configuring Pace modem/router for ST hub

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me out with what is turning into an annoying problem! This is my second time trying to install a hub on my network, after getting a replacement when ST support were confounded and concluded it was a software issue. I’m now beginning to think it is likely an issue with my network setup.

I have a Pace 5168NV modem/router (the cable company’s choice, not mine), with the ST hub wired into the back as instructed (have tried different cable/port, but no change). The light on the back on the hub is green, but I cannot get a software update to complete, or any devices to pair. The hub’s events list shows firmware updates over and over again, but under “Changed”, it shows “false” every time.

My router event log shows repeated messages such as:

INF 2015-03-27T00:50:44-07:00 Previous log entry repeated 5 times
INF 2015-03-27T00:51:00-07:00 fw, src=184.73.219.91 dst=74.222.95.42 ipprot=6 sport=443 dport=2225 TCP SYN Packet Dropped

Where 74.222.95.42 is the IP address for the ST hub. I’ve configured the ST hub in the router settings to DMZ plus mode, and opened port 443.

I really hope someone out there with more technical knowledge can help me fix this as I just want to get my ST hub up and running. Please keep it as basic as possible, as the above has pretty much exhausted my techie knowledge!

Thanks!

Forgot to mention - the light on the back of the hub is generally green, but cycles back through red and blue as it tries to do it’s firmware updates…

Really? Are all the other devices on your LAN in that same subnet?

Scott - my mistake. That seems to be the IP for all my devices. Doh!

The only thing I can think of is maybe the firewall is blocking something. Can you temporarily disable the firewall to see if you can get an update to work?

If that doesn’t work, maybe your provider is blocking something.

Keo - thanks for the suggestion, but as far as I can see, Pace do not allow the firewall to be disabled. I’ve turned off as many features as it allows, but sadly still no success. It might be that I need to talk to my ISP, as it seems one way or the other, a few things are blocked - I also cannot access my media server from outside my home network, which was possible from my previous apartment with another provider…
