I was thinking of putting a motion sensor under my side of the bed to trigger a floor lamp and the master bathroom lights at a dimmed level after 12:00am to 7:00am. Has anyone done this and would I need to use rule machine?

Sure, lots of people have done it, including me. ( It’s actually the example I used in the changing modes FAQ.)

You can use rule machine if you like, but you don’t need to, you can also just do it with modes and routines or with Smart Lighting automations.

on September 15, 2016, an update was released to the android and iOS smartthings mobile apps which removed the ability to add a new mode through the app. Hopefully this was just a glitch and it will be re-added soon. Motion sensor in bedroom?

Hi, I want to place a motion sensor in my bedroom and turn on the light when there is motion so that I don’t have to turn it on from the wall switch. But there’s of course movement when I sleep. How can I prevent the motion sensor to trigger when I am moving in my sleep ? I am using a Smartthings motion sensor and I have following apps: Rule Machine Smart Lighting
