Has anyone done any work using smart things sensors as inputs to the alarm panel, something about the L protocol?
Were you ever able to get this done? I would like other SmartThings devices to be able to kick off the alarm as well.
Also, how do notifications work? Obviously, I would like to be notified when the alarm is going off (is that done through SHM?), but also right now, during testing, I would like to be notified when the alarm is armed or disarmed. Is there a way to do that?
So I was able to use webCORE to send myself notifications based on the armed disarmed state, and was thinking I could do the same thing to trigger the alarm from other devices. Is there any documentation on the best way to interface with webCORE (I can poke around and play a bit, but if anyone has gone down this road before, it would be great to hear about it)? Iām new to SmartThings in general, but am tech savy enough to know how to read a little code, but Iām not sure if I should be looking in the app code of the device handler code.
Also, is there a way that things show up as anything other than contact sensors? I have motion, fire, and CO sensors as well, but they are all ācontactā sensors, and thus canāt be used in the same way that a normal motion sensor can be used.
I just bought and installed my AD2Pi network device. My alarm panel is a Honeywell Vista20p. I do not know the codes or anything to the alarm as it was there when I bought my house. I did a lot of reading and it was suggested on these forums to buy the AD2Pi, so I did.
After install, I guess I expected something to happen but it didnāt lol. So I started to install the device handler as described from github. I already had my ST hub setup and controlling some devices. I followed the github instructions exactly. When I get to the part of selecting location, I had no location listed. So I cannot proceed unless I create a new location. If I click on the āMy locationsā link at the top, I have a location called āHomeā. If I click that, then go to āMy SmartAppsā I see things like āCoreā and not the smartapp I added for the AD2Pi. So I guess it looks like the things I created for AD2Pi are not affiliated/associated to my existing āHomeā location.
What did I do wrong? I followed the instructions exactly. Is this result what its supposed to be or do I need to have the handler and the smartapps associated under my āHomeā location? Its pretty confusing and it is not intuitive to let you know whats going on.
Thanks.
Ok, so I went into my home location and re-added all the stuff from github. I now have it setup/installed. I see lots of sensors in the app but have no idea what they are or how to use them yet.
I do not know the alarm code. Can I reset it with this device or use a code I can set or do I need to somehow get the original code?
My initial reason for doing this is so I could use all the sensors, like doors, windows, motion, etc to trigger things with smartthings. Any hints on how to use this thing now that I have it installed?
I donāt have AD2pi module but info might be useful until you get help with it:
Manual for future reference Honeywell VISTA 15P, 20P Programming Guide - Alarm Grid
Reset instructions
http://support.alarmclub.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2494920-how-to-reset-a-honeywell-vista-20p-system-
If I run that reset, will it lose all its prior programming, like zones, etc? Or will it just reset the code? I know nothing about alarms so I donāt want to lose everything if I can help it. I just want to change the code.
Then, I need to be able to identify which sensor goes to what in the smartthings app so I can use them for actions.
When i moved in to new home the original owner forgot the alarm/disarm code so i did the master code reset using
The Third post in link above and it did not remove zone/sensor programming on my adt system.
I cant say 100% it wonāt reset your particular system but maybe some one else can chime in
Thanks. I have tried all sorts of combos from those threads but nothing seems to happen. Only key press beeps. I constantly have comm failure and some other alerts flashing on my keypad screens. I have never used this thing so no idea how it works.
I finally have everything communicating so Iād like to start being able to use it. Just donāt know where to start.
Ok, so I finally found a guide that had the right codes in it for my panel. I was able to get into programming and set a new code. I was able to test it by enabling/disabling the chime feature.
So what now? As a test, I opened a door. The alarm immediately knew the door opened. AlarmDecoder webapp also knew it was open. But, when I look at smartthings app, all I see is several āAlarmDecoder Zone Sensor #1ā kind of entries and they all say closed. What does that mean? And shouldnāt I see something that tells me my door is open in the smartthings app?
Iām happy I have gotten it this far, but really donāt know where to go from here. I also have a bad smoke detector and another sensor that must be bad because my alarm panel always has alerts for those 2. I cannot figure out how to ignore those until I get them replaced.
Im not sure if thereās integration documentation on the next steps but maybe check @jasonsf post above or @kevin_nutech can help with how to proceed further.
In a future update of the webapp it will automatically find your installer code, how many devices and what addresses they are, and all your zones and zone data. We have found a way to get this information to ease in help setting up.
If you are having trouble integrating, please email ad2usb@support.nutech.com as we do not typically monitor these threads. That said, the documentation for integration is on the github repository at https://github.com/nutechsoftware/alarmdecoder-smartthings
Will this work if your alarm is monitored? Iād like to use this to auto set my alarm when everyone leaves via webcore, but I still want to have my system monitored.
Thanks
Angie
Yes. The alarm Decoder is basically another keypad on your alarm system. It doesnāt interfere with monitoring service.
Anyone have an issue with the Smartapp not displaying the red/green cycles for each zones at all? I see them listed in Smartthings and the system arms and disarms fine, but nothing is displayed in the boxes as seen below.
Hello @kevin_nutech and/or any other knowledgeable person on AD2Pi
I am looking to purchase the AD2Pi but I have a Honeywell LYNX L3000 which shows as āsupported but needs extra workā in the Alarmdecoder.com website.
Can anyone please help me understand what are the specific steps I need to follow to make this work?
Example:- purchase additional cable, go to x y z setting on your panel to assign keypad address etcā¦
I have emailed AD support but no reply yet so thought I will post it here in case anyone can answer.
Thanks much!!
I donāt recall seeing a support email - sorry if I missed it. http://www.houselogix.com/shop/honeywell-lynx-3000-cable here is the special cable you need
I donāt recall what address - maybe 1 or 2 or 31 ⦠sorry we donāt deal with them that often, theyāre pretty poor panels.
If thatās the actual cost of the cable, might be cheaper to get a vista15p or vista20p off ebay and replace that smash and grab.
Thanks @kevin_nutech !
I checked the programming manual for the Lynx 3000 and it does not mention āKeypad optionsā or Addressing the Keypad anywhere. I tried 190, 1, 2 and 31 with the installer code and none of them allow for keypad addressing.
Would you know if the the Vista 20p control boards would support the existing 345 mhz RF wireless sensors from the Lynx system or do I need to make an additional purchase for a wireless chip/module apart from the main Vista 20p board ?
Sorry for all these basic questions. The alarm panel was just a box on the wall for me until this weekend when I heard about AD2pi
It will support any of the 5800 series wireless devices as long as you get the rf receiver⦠you can find them in keypads such as the 6160rf
Kevin do you have an idea what could be causing Smartthings to not show the zones as I posted above?
