… and I was about to commit to a Smartthings starter kit. I’ve evaluated a dedicated alarm system and wanted to go down the smartthings route. Would prefer smartthings though.

SmartThings is not a dedicated alarm system. The article just refers to what we were talking about. Insecure join is being addressed by SmartThings, but it really isn’t that big of a deal compared to the gapping hole in the simplisafe system…
Indeed. Yeah, I’m aware ST is not a dedicated home security system. Read above threads and links. Looked like the same issue.
I saw the simplisafe article (from another source) a few days ago and it was truly shocking. I pity those home owners who installed it
